My Super Duty is a 99.5 Lariat 4x4 Diesel. And after 33K miles there's not enough tread on the rear tires to go through the winter on, while fronts look great. Should I replace the two rears with original Firestone's 265/75/16, or all four with a better brand of tires? I have the money to do all four, but uncertain as to which brand - and size, to go with. Heard good things about Avon (A-v-on) and Pro Comps, but no Illinois dealers. Both are Hi-Tech tires. Also considering Goodyear ATS. About size, I would like to go up to 305/70/16s but Goodyear says they'll rub, and recommends 285/75/16s instead. If I increase the height, Ford Service wants $150 to re-calibrate the speedo, that seems rather high? Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 09:59:24 -0600 I have a 97 250 HD 4x4 xlt LWB SRW Diesel and I am running the stock 235 85 R16.. The truck only has 25000 miles and I went to Discount tire here in TX nad they adv me that the 285 75 R 16 is the best size for the truck . They said that the 305 is overkill and will only rub and that I would be disapointed with the 305 series. I am moving to MI and everyone there is running the BFG ko 285 or smaller...They say in the snow and the rain the 265 and 285 are as big you would want, unless you like to hydroplane. KYLE... let me know what you go with nad price... -----Original Message----- From: Charles Abraham [mailto:abrahamc Sent: Tuesday, November 14, 2000 5:46 PM To: superduty-list Subject: [superduty-list] New Tires?
