Subject: push rods

have a 302 that we did a full rebuild on 2.5 yrs ago.. We just pulled
the heads and are installing roller rockers.. I find that THREE of the
new push rods are severely bent.. one so bad its been rubbing on the
sides..
there is less then 3000 miles on the engine..
I am replacing all the push rods with a set i bid on ebay that was
"supposed" to be  4x hardened.. it appears that they are just "hardened"
and  are not chrome moly  4130 one piece rods.  they however are better
then "stock" pushrods
and are "black" in color not chrome like the old set was.
the engine is not built for high revs in the 10k range but in the
4000-5000 range.
the engine is not runing alcohol.
question #1.. should i stop and get the GOOD  $80. ish push rods or go
with the set i have..
question #2.. WHY do pushrods bend.
