I've got a 2.9L V6 hooked up to a T-5 trans. I originally wanted to swap it
out for something larger in the V6 family. But I've been told that I'd have
to swap out the trans as well as my driveshaft. So now I'm looking at some
upgrades to the stock engine. What I've thought of so far is a K&N air
filter, new exhaust system (Dynomax or Flowmaster?), and swapping out the
throttle body. I'm sorry if I'm bringing up old subjects, but I'm new to
this list. If someone could tell me what exhaust works well with the 2.9L
I'd appreciate it. Also I'd like to know about any other add ons or
upgrades that have worked well for ya'll. Thanks in advance,

Bill

Bill,

A great place to start would be Pat Kunz's 2.9L tips of the week:
http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.fordranger.com/totw.html

He's done plenty to the 2.9 and knows his way around.  Good stuff in there,
including exhaust pipe sizes.

Good luck,
Steve

I have a 3.0L 1999 Ranger.  I put a K&N open air cone filter (around $50)
and Flowmaster 1 in 2 out dual exhaust (not true dual) cat-back exhaust
system on mine ($350 installed w/chrome tips and welded).  It gave it a
little more power and a hell of a sound.  Check out
http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.therangerstation.cjb.net/ for some ideas.
