Has anyone had trouble with their firestone tires.  I had a pair of
firestones that were not under the recall and I had to change them after
16,000 miles.  I am very very unhappy with their quality!  Anyone have a
similar story?  I have decided to boycott the companies products.

I just had a custom exhaust installed on my 96 Ranger.  I had a 3" free flow
cat put on, then a 2 foot piece of 3" stainless exhaust tubing that joins
into a Flowmaster series 40 muffler.  That then exits out with two 2 1/2"
stainless pipes out the back that bend and flow along and close to the frame
line.  I used Borla square baffled stainless tips then to finish it off.  I
love the sound it produces and I definitely think I increased at least a
little bit.  Won't be sure though until I install the MAS flow sensor, the
Jet Tech computer module and the new throttle body.  Then I will see how it
does.  Already have the K&N Injection Flow Kit installed.  Love the sound
and performance I got from this.

I have a set of 225 Firestones that came on my then new 1999
Mazda B2500. Hate these tires! They are full of bumps and the
sidewalls have strange lines in them. At 16,900 miles they are
more than 1/2 worn out. I'll never have a Firestone tire again,
even free. Mazda says they are not in the recall and for me to drop
dead. I'll never have a Mazda again either!

Just wait until people with the 225 size start dying, then
something will be done after the funerals.

I won't drive my Mazda over 45 MPH and at 20,000 I'm going
to put a real set of tires on and send the Firestones to
Firestone as a Chrismas gift.

Michael

Here is a photo of the bronco as it looks today, in case anyone is
interested:

I have had the bronco for one week after teh body shop finished working
on it. One week.

Sunday was beautiful here yesterday, so I grabbed a friend and headed out
to sebastopol for some home made ice cream. After that, we ran to the
mall because she wanted shoes and I, dress shirts.

We were in the mall for less than two hours, and when we came back the
bronco had been broken into. They tried to get the glove box open, but
didn't. They only badly tweaked the door pretty good, but other than that
it kept it's secret of my insurance paperwork and hankerchief.

The console between the seats got busted open. They stole my CDs, all
five of them in there, a sprint PCS phone and my Alpine CD player
faceplate.

They did leave the CD player in the dash, however. What the heck?? Why
steal only the face plate? They did get the phone, though.

They left a brand new TFI module, and two EEC relays that I carry for
spares.

After talking with police, I went home, called the sprint company and
told them what happened. They told me the phone had been used to call my
residence, (Quickdial no. 1 on the phone) and to make some calls to
mexico. When the thieves called my house, they left messages in spanish!!
No kidding.

WHat the heck man, I had the bronco chopped for one week and this
happened.

Peculiarly enough, they didn't even open up my tool box or even touch the
work gloves or shop rags. I should have hidden my faceplate in the
gloves, or better yet the tools. Huh....

When I got home I found out that my insurance premiums are going up.
What's the bill now? $238.40 per month for full coverage, less $500
deductable. (USAA)

There are no stickers on the back, and to the best of my knowledge I am
one of the most cautionary drivers that I know of. I have never been in
an accident, good driver discount, good students discount, multiple car
discount, etc.

Funny thing is that when I get rear ended, it's always by someone without
any insurance.

Adam,

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.  On a side note, your BII looks great!
I'll admit to drooling a bit.  I guess now you need to get used to the fact
that you won't always have a secure car anymore.  I guess that's one of the
disadvantages to having a chopped vehicle (whether factory or not).

Good luck with it, would love to see more pictures!

Take care,
Steve
