I saw this answer to another concern and am wondering if this may be why my BII is stalling when cold (due to low idle), it runs fine when warm. Is there a temp sensor other than the one for the gauge? Any other possibilities? (Not EGR, changed it to solve my warm stall problem, fixed it) Actual symptoms: Starts fine. Runs at high idle for approx 5 seconds and drops to regular idle. Stalls when I put it in gear (unless I feather the gas). Runs fine w/ A/C (Still using it in Charlotte). 87 BII, 2WD, V6, A4OD (LD?), 260,000 miles - No Firestones (Never liked after that Firestone 500 issue). They told me last night that they had been talking to Ford Engineering and had a couple ideas to try today. I'll talk to them about the electrical. Thanks! Most certainly; As I recall it's near the thermostat housing, the connector is roughly 3/4" diameter with 2 pins in it. > Actual symptoms: > Starts fine. Runs at high idle for approx 5 seconds and drops to regular idle. Before the problem started how did it act cold? High for 5 Sec. then a 'gradual' drop over the next 15-200 Seconds? > Stalls when I put > it in gear (unless I feather the gas). Runs fine w/ A/C (Still using it in Charlotte). And in Wilmington! A good friend used to work for Chry and got to know the engineering dept. well! Ford's diagnostic routines leave a bit to be desired at times, but they're several orders of magnitude better than Mopar's... If I had a Dollar for every Mopar computer condemned by the 'proper' tests in the US I could retire. ;-) (Of course a buck for every one replaced of all makes by guessing or poor testing would qualify me as wealthy...) Hope it's fixed soon!
