I am likely going to be in the market for an older (91-93) Explorer. As I
am going to be towing a heavier load (about 3,000 pounds) I'll probably look
for 4.10 gears. I am curious about how the gas mileage would be on a rig
like this. I'll be buying an automatic and maybe even a 2wd if I can find a
good deal on one. By mileage, I mean mainly hwy to work and freeway. I
don't drive much in the city. How about towing mileage and performance in
mountainous terrain? Also, any comments on towing a load like this (boat)
and any other equipment suggestions are appreciated.

Hi gang! Check out the latest issue of Truckin' magazine
(October 99). Gary Pratt, of "Ford Folio" fame, gave us
a nice tip of the hat in his report on the 21st annual
F100 Supernationals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He even
mentioned Don Neighbors and myself by name!

The article is pretty good. There's mention of some of
the new products out there. The whole article makes me
wish I was at the show again.

My 93 Ranger had 125K on it before I sold it. Did not have one oil leak and
I used 3/4 of a quart of oil between changes.

I have a 91 Ranger XTL Ext Cab with a 3.0 V-6.
I have looked and looked but am unable to find the
oil sending unit for my oil pressure gauge. Could someone
please tell me where on my engine it is located?

Also how many miles can I expect to get out of this 3.0 V-6
with out major problems ?

capable of towing up to 5,000 lbs without a problem! (At least that's
what the dealer told me. . . )

I've seen 3500 Lbs as max... That may be because the only hitches are rated
at 3500 (Class III)

well Yeah I looked at the brake switch a little more and noticed that the
connection that hits the peddle rod was worn so I replaced it. It works fine
now, However I would recommend that if anyone it gonna do this to their
truck to go to Ford and get a the new washers for the Peddle rod.
