Replaced probably every bushing there was and still had the creak. Already had new shocks. Braking system was fine. I think it may have been coming from where the spring sits. When the spring is compressed and decompressed, they will twist slightly, rubbing at their contact points. I tried lubing the areas, but no luck. Finally just learned to live with it, however I did trade it off about a month later. Hope this helps. ran > Date: Fri, 23 Jul 1999 09:58:40 -0500 > From: "Tony Rio (Chicago)" > Subject: FTE Small - Creaking Explorer > > Anyone have any ideas? I am in need of a new A/C hose for my air conditioning unit (90 Explorer), and this part, according to the dealer, is about $220. (ouch!) Apparently this is some sort of special, extra-sturdy (or what-not) A/C hose. Thank you for your time. In fact, give me your interpretation of what they have to say: "Granatelli Motor Sport's Mass Airflow Sensor offers up to 47% more airflow than your Ford's stock unit, and features a built-in state of the art active electronic module to provide more accurate fuel mixture and timing calibration" --- Performance products, catalog 16F (spring/summer '99) Ken - ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Mike Harms Reply-To: small-list Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1999 16:01:13 -0500 >To do what the Granatelli product claims to do (provide more accurate fuel mixture and timing calibration) it would have to be more than just a MAF sensor. A Mass Airflow Sensor just detects the mass of the air flowing into the engine. This information, in and of itself can not increase the accuracy of the fuel mixture or timing calibration. Timing calibration is handled by the ECM as well as fuel mixture. Perhaps they include a revised chip as well as the MAF. Just increasing the size of the MAF does not mean instant performance. Hoping for a performance increase from a changed out MAF assumes that the MAF is the only bottle neck in the engine. You still can have issues with poorly tuned intake, too hot of air charge, injectors too small to make use of the additional air, restrictive exhaust system. And of course, the limitation of a naturally aspirated engine, the amount of air that can be sucked into the cylinders. >Date: Wed, 21 Jul 1999 18:46:16 -0600 >From: "Kenneth St. John" >Subject: RE: FTE Small - Mass Air Flow Sensor > ... >I noticed in the Latest performance magazine that Granatelli Motor Sports has included a MAF sensor also >that provides a more accurate fuel mixture and timing calibration. This might be the one to purchase (it >lists for $264.10)as opposed to the standard 70mm bored out MAF that requires the old MAF sensor. ... == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 12:58:49 -0400 From: "4xFord" Subject: Re: FTE Small - Discount Parts -anyone?- Check out the Atascadero Ford Parts Outlet at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.ford-outlet.com I got a transmission cross member from them for about $20 cheaper than local even after I paid shipping...and it came straight to my house in the same ammount of time the local guys could get it to their shop. The say that they give 20% off to folks that use their email form. After you send off the form, they e-mail you back with a price and you call the 800 number to order it from them.
