Subject: FTE Small - engine ping

Hey all,
Lately my engin has been pinging when I run 89 octane gas. It's not
as
noticable (at all) with 93 octane. Since I prefer to run the 89 most of
the
time, I need some suggestions for fixing this. I am trying to find a
cleaner
that I saw on Shaetree Mechanic. The stuff is in a can that you connect
to your
fuel rail and run the truck off of it until it stops (10-15 minutes). It
is
supposed to clean the injectors as well as break up the carbon on the
vavles and
related parts. The engine has about 100K miles on it.

First question: Does anyone know what this stuff is called? and Where I
can get
it?

Second questions: Does anyone have any other suggestions short of
tearing the
top of the motor apart and cleaning everything?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Baker

I watched Shade tree mechanic last weekend and they showed the fuel
injector cleaner that your talking about. It is produced by 3M. I have
found it at a local Kar pro auto parts store. You might try to locate 3M
on the internet through a search engine and see if you can find a
distributor in your area.
