YES! I have the same exact noise! Mine is a '96 4x4 STX extended cab. This
noise is so irritating! Mine has actually gotten worse the last few months,
and gets alot worse in the colder months. It certainly sounds like it is
coming from the door latch area. Mine seems to go away when I crack the door
open while driving, but I can't be sure because of the extra road noise.
Then it comes right back when the door is closed. It possibly could be
something with the seat belt mechanism also. I'm about to start diagnosing
this 'cause it is driving me up a wall. So did the lube on the latch help?
I've got to get rid of this sound, AAAHHHHH! Let me know if you have any
other ideas!

On the subject of cabin noise, I have a 94 Ranger 4x4 extended cab that
sometimes makes an annoying metallic pop around the driver's door latch
area. It seems to occur irregularly, and usually while stopping or over
road bumps. I've lubed the latch mechanism a bit, and also treated the
weatherstripping. Anybody else experience this or have any
suggestions??

Jeff,

I thought I was the only one with that stupid sound, and that I was just
being too picky. At least, that's what my girlfriend thinks. Sorry to hear
that you have the same problem, but, glad as well - now I know I'm not
crazy...
Anyway, I have greased up the L-shaped thing that the door latch grabs onto
when the door is shut, and I used Tri-flow on the exposed part of the latch
mechanism itself. It seems to have helped, but the problem is not cured. I
also think that my problem occurs more when it's cold. Try lubing what you
can on the mechanisms and that L-shaped piece on the door jamb. I'm tempted
to actually pay the dealer to tear open the door and lube everything inside
it or have them look for loose parts or something... I'd pull off the door
panel myself, but I'm afraid of breaking something. Not too sure if the
clips that hold the door in are one time use only, nor is it immediately
obvious as to wear they are, as you cannot see them. You can be sure that
I'll keep after the problem...

HI:

Just wondering if it's anything like the terrible buzzing
sound I get out of my 1999 Mazda B2500 regular cab 2.5L
5 speed with only 4000 miles? When I take off in first it
has a nasty buzzing sound that takes place at about 15 MPH
and then goes away. Spoiled the entire package for me and
I suggest no one buy a truck set up like mine until Mazda
has fixed this problem!

Subject: FTE Small - Aerostar Front Door Locks

The door lock mechanisms in both my front doors have gotten stiff; the
electric lock motors can't overcome the stiffness. I think that I have
hardened lubricants in the mechanisms. The vehicle is a '92. I've
never gotten into the doors; my Haynes and Alldata/Popular Mechanics
manuals don't cover them. Alldata has an illustration, but as usual, it
is blurry and unusable.

So, I'd appreciate responses from anyone who can help guide me through
this task.

1. How do I safely remove and re-attach my front door trim panels. Do I
need any special tools?

2. Is there anything special I need to know about working on the latch
mechanisms?

3. Where should I zero-in on the old glopped grease?

4. What are good lubricants to use on the latch/lock mechanisms?

Thanks in advance

Richard

Hello,

I have a 95 Ranger and taking off the door panel is very simple and does not include any one time use clips. If you are interested in finding out how to remove the door panel, email me and I will explain in detail.

Jason,

Sure, I'd be interested in knowing how to remove the inner driver's door
panel (94 Ranger Extended 4x4). Can you explain here?

Thanks.

The system i just installed is nice its got a slightly louder rumble
at idle and only gets loud between 1800 and 2300 rpm;s after that it pretty
much goes away i hear the induction from the air cleaner over it -go figure-
But instead of wasting $500-600 bucks on a borla or flowmaster which by the
way don't flow very well at all they just get loud, try and find a exhaust
shop, they can build you one for a quater of that my 3" exhaust and 3"dynomax
muffler only ran me $265.00 installed and out the door.......ding

OK,

In order to remove the inner door panel on my Ranger, all I had to do was:

1. Remove the window crank (Not necessary for power windows).

2. Remove 2 screws from underneath the door handle( 2 small black phillips
head screws)

3. Remove a screw from the bottom outside corner of the door. This was a
little hidden from the carpet on the bottom of the door, but keep looking,
its there.

4. Grab the bottom of the door panel and lift up. Be Careful, you will have
to disconnect any power accessory wires that are attached to the door panel.
Just simply unplug them.

Obviously, do this is reverse to reinstall.
