Dear Bob

I seem to remember reading that the number you want is on a sticker
inside the rear of the back of the rear tail lights, if you see what
I mean. You get at it thru the jack access door I think. I may be
wrong, because I read it 6 months ago, but its just possible its OK.
Try it and let us know.

I have a '97 XLT/Eddie Bauer export special as I live in Yorkshire
England. I love the Explorer, and even my wife likes it, tho' she
says England is too small to park it! I can park it on a sixpence
(dime?) because of the very accurate steering.

Good Luck and Happy 1999 to you and everyone at FTE-small trucks

I have just acquired a used '97 Explorer XLT. It has the keypad beside
the
door handle. Is there any way to get the combination? The dealer doesn't
seem to know what it is. They acquired it thru an auction.
Also, are there any quirks I should look out for on this model?
It runs and drives great with 43k miles on it.
Thanks,

Once again, Ford Truck Enthusiasts has won a Carlounge award!
This is the third quarterly award we've won from them. We
won the #2 automotive site, behind (yuck) the official
Chevy site. Not bad that little ol' FTE placed right behind
big Chevrolet!

I want to thank everyone who nominated us!

That combo is available, but the 2-doors are also available with the
SOHC 4.0, and the five-speed auto. The only combo not available on the
2-door is the V8. It is amazing to me, but you can option a 2 Door out
to over $31,000
(don't know how much more, but that was what one I looked at this
weekend listed for)
