Worth) If any of you live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and are looking for tires, these may be what you need. I just got a new set of 31" BFG AT's for my truck, and have no need for the tires I took off. They are OEM Firestone Wilderness AT's, outline-white-letter, 235/75-15's with 10,060 miles on them. They are in perfect condition, and have 11/32" of tread left (new tires of this same type have 13/32"). I will let the set of four go today for $100. A new set will run you ~$350. I'm running a stock 5.0L EFI with a t-5 tranny. I have an ext-a-cab 89 ranger custom. I had to move the 2.9L 5-speed tranny crossmember up 3-1/4" for the t-5 tranny. And I am using the stock 2-piece driveshaft with a 7.5 rear end (410 posi) But after Friday's night's 14.36 since when I was doing a burnout I wasn't on the cemet pad and I broke the spider gears which in turn wrecked a couple of teeth on the ring and pinion gears. As for the mustang 8.8" rearends with do have a coil-over spring setup and ranger's have lift-spring. But i think '90+ rangers came with 8.8" with lift springs so you can have the 8.8" if you can find one in the wreckers. But if you plan on racing then maybe a 9" is the way to go, and gears are cheaper for 9"'s than 8.8"'s (will they are up here in Ontario Canada :) ) As for the stock driveshaft holding up, I broke the yoke on the tailend of the 2 piece shaft, only after I decided to run slicks. I did a great smoke show, and the staged, I let go at 3000 and I didn't even get a reaction time, I broke the yoke. It grenaded big time, aswell I crack the driver side cap inside the differential. So I would recommend a custom one piece shaft if you plan on beat it to the ground like me, but alas I'm running on zero funds for the whole PROJECT RANGER. I just got new tires because I wanted some that looked better on the vehicle. For some reason, Ford insists on putting undersized tires on the Explorers. Gerhart, There are almost 40 manufacturers of tonneau covers in the USA. This includes hard, soft and fiberglass. There should be lots of choices and price ranges for you to pick from. If you wish (and anyone else), E-mail me personally and I'll send you a list of the manufacturers with their telphone numbers. You can then call for the nearest distributor, etc. Regards, Ken Justice Discover the Working Mat! http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.workingmat.com == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Sep 1998 18:57:54 EDT From: CBadgerJr Subject: FTE Small - Stuck Computer Codes, Help needed I recently aquired a "project vehicle" as an 84 Bronco II with a 2.8L V-6, with 4-wheel drive, automatic transmission, A/C, PB and PS. It was not taken care of very well. It gets 13 miles per gallon on the highway, 10 around town, with th efront hubs unlocked. Having been told that it should get 18-20 mpg, I hooked up a $25 LED computer code reader to it and attempted to get the codes from the computer. However, the LED stays on continuously during the Key On Engine Off test, and I am unable to get any codes out of the computer. Any ideas? Well, today we went back and kicked the trail! Had a little pucker going on for a few of the spots, that we didn't get to last time, when my passenger rear tire was in the air by a few feet? Oh why do I do this? Rhetorical question. Anyway the truck that followed me thru was a toy that was lifted like 6 or so inches. Same pucker point but his tire was in the air over my head, by the way I am 6'2. Thought it was nice to see someone else try the same thing. Hope fully next week we will go to Holy Cross City. Anyone Here in Colorado interested in joining us? I do have to say that you do need to have at least 31 inch tires and a limited slip or locker in one or both pumpkins. If interested please email me directly. 95 ranger 4.0 stx lifted 2" Ken == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Sep 1998 21:37:41 -0700 From: "Craig Rubin" Subject: Re: FTE Small - Re: Tonneau covers Ken, I'm a new subscriber to the group and would like to get the list of tonneau cover manufacturers.
