I mean, where did this guy pull this data together from? I envisioned you sitting there with twenty pounds of manuals in your lap just waiting for my message so you could fire off this answer. Anyway, I really appreciate your answer. It's interesting. So, it appears that all these vehicles' heater cores are roughly the same size. And your advice seems right to the point. I remember that there's a special Aerostar bleeding routine that involves tippng the vehicle. And I wonder if my mechanic did it right: a few weeks after my mechanic replaced my heater core, now I'm doing the head gaskets. All told, I expect to be out around $3 grand at SF Bay area shop rates. Ugh. Thank you! Richard - -- !! Mine is a '97, built july '97, sold in UK Nov '97. I've tried 4, 5, 7 and 8 times but I never get the " You will begin to hear the door locks lock and unlock." bit. I've NOT started engine at all, I've waited 1 second, 3 seconds, 5 seconds. Also my xmitter has only one button, press on press off. Logically(!) it should be (model year - 90) = # of times to switch on. How long should I wait between switches, how long before door locks lock and unlock? My Dealer still "is obtaining further advices on this.........." so it would belovely to beat the idiot to it! In my Ranger ('96), I attached it to the ash tray cover that pulls down. Be sure to get a CB with an RF Gain adjustment. The cheapo's don't always have this adjust. I finally found the culperate and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this: The rear-end twists forward when taking off from a stop or slow roll. The dealership finally looked at it and said it is normal for the rear-end to do this. Has anyone ever heard of this? == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 19:05:21 -0700 From: "Alan Wilson" Subject: Re: FTE Small - 1998 Rander Rear-end tweak At 08:23 PM 7/29/98 -0500, you wrote: > >The rear-end twists forward when taking off... I could be wrong, but I thought that was it. As far for the twisting on your Ranger, I guess it could be possible. My Ranger makes a sound too, not really a thud, but a noise none the less. The dealer told me it was nothing to worry about either. Its been doing it ever since i bought it two years ago and its a 1993. My friend also has a 1993 Ranger, and it does the exact same thing. So I guess it is normal. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 09:00:31 -0700 From: Richard Salitra Subject: FTE Small - Westin Bars phone # I have a catalog from Wedgestone Automotive Group which makes both Westin & Fey products. their phone # is 800-345-8476. their address is 15854 Ornelas Street, Irwindale, CA 91706. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 21:12:41 PDT From: "Alan Gustafson" Subject: FTE Small - Aftermarket camshafts for 2.8 L Next month I'll be pulling the 2.8L engine out of an 85 Ranger 4x4 that I recently acquired, in order to do a light overhaul. Since the camshaft will be removed from the engine, I'm considering replacing it with an "RV grind" version to improve low end torque a bit. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a parts store that shows a performance cam listing for this engine. My question is, has anyone come across a decent cam for this engine? ______________________________________________________ == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html....
