Loud audio definitely causes irreversable hearing damage. This is especially true of low-frequency sound: the bass. I just witnessed a rock musician leaving my ENT doctor's office, swearing that he would instantly convert to acoustic music. The reason: his own substantial hearing losses. In the tiny acoustical chamber of a truck cab, I'd estimate that five true audio watts per channel would just about blow your head off. Subtracting for all the liberal BS that abounds in the car stereo industry, this would translate into their claimed 20-watts per channel. Even this could cause deterioration in your ears. Definitely. In fact, this would be very ample power in the much larger chamber of my Aerostar. I speak from many years of experience as an audio specialist. Richard. - -- !! In fact, the only time i turn it up real loud is when i am not in it. Thats all it comes down too, look at the pros, their systems are capable of 170+ dBs and they seem to be ok..its all about volume control... == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jun 1998 21:00:41 -0400 (EDT) From: "Linda d' Fan" Subject: RE: FTE Small - New to list, Unhappy Ranger owner At 04:02 PM 6/30/98 -0500, you wrote: >I have a 2.9 and have 180,000 with no problems. wish I had the 4.0 though. > I wish I could of gone 180,000 miles. Now first are the 351W and the 302's the same externally size wise? (its been a long time since I fooled with engine swapping) in other words, will the 351W fit the same as a 302? If the 351W isn't a problem I'd go that way as I don't want to build a "RACE" truck I just want a good reliable engine in my truck and a stock fresh 351 would provide me with all I'll ever need. Next does anyone know where to look for the necessary parts (mounts etc)? I can't remember the names of the companies that specialize in this stuff for the life of me. Any WEB address's would be appreciated. One more question, transmissions, I have the AOD 4speed now, will this bolt to the V8's? The transmission shop > that installed the clutch says that the noise is caused by wornout > engine mounts. Sounds logical, but doesn't explain why this appeared > after the clutch work. Sounds like your shop let the engine dangle on the mounts while they had the tranny out, tearing the rubber. Make a deal with them, have them change the mounts (for free) and you'll buy the mounts. If they go for it, great. If not, find a new garage. After they fix them, find a new garage . . . > How difficult is it to change the mounts on a 2.0 4 cyl.? Should I > just pay a garage to do it? how much would I pay? Can't help specifically, but 4-cyl mounts shouldn't be too difficult. Requires a floor jack too support them engine, and maybe a variety of sockets / extentions / unversals to get at the bolts.
