Subject: FTE Small - Lockers?

Hi,

What an air locker that you guys have been talking about. It sounds like
a traction controls found in most cars. I have an Explorer V8 and it
doesn't come with low range. If I install those lockers, does this mean
that I have enhanced low range capability? How are the lockers compare
to regular low-range systems? My Explorer spins its rear wheels a lot on
snow and ice at starting point. I'd like to put some sound of traction
control systems on the rear or even both similar to newer Land Rovers.

Thanks,

Shane

I looked for the fireing order for 45 minute once in mid project.
It was not in the index, table of content or listed anywhere. It was
burried in the text, in only one place. What a pain.

Subject: FTE Small - Is There a Ranger Buyer's Guide?

I'm looking to buy a small truck as a daily driver and for some light
utility work. I'm pretty sure I want a Ranger with a V6 and extended cab.
Is there a buyer's guide or list of buyer's tips anywhere on the web? I'm
looking for answers to questions like: Are there years I should stay away
from? How about V6 vs 4cyl? 5 speed? Auto trans? Thanks.

ok i dont claim to be an expert but i have 35" boggers on my ranger and
a 4 cyl efi so i had no torque and the only answer for some extra power
was to do a gear swap. the folks in rancho cordova did this for me. i
had 3.45 and now have 5.13. i have a ford 7.5" and a dana 28 in front.
the total cost for this was 2279.83. also i had a bad rear axle and axle
bearings as well as my carrier bearings. the first time i let the
clutch out after this mod i thought those guys put a v-8 in there. i
have no problem turning 35's and the 4 low crawl ratio is amazing. i
hope this is helpful to anybody considering doing a gear swap.

p.s. the price also included a locker in front and a posi in the rear
any ? email me at stans hotmail.com

i feel for you. i had the same problem with my 86 ranger with the
grinding sound. during this time it was intermittant and would only do
it some times and i replaced the starter, cables, battery and solenoid,
however it was only the actual terminal coming loose. i replaced my high
dollar gold plated stereo terminals and havent had a problem since.

I am a dedicated ford man. Ihave had a ranger for almost a year but just
recently traded it for one of its big brothers. Does anyone know of a f-150
page somewhat similar to this one.
Thanks

You don't have to go anywhere else. We have a list specifically for
1997 and newer F150s. Go to our web site, click "mailing lists" and
fill out the form to join.
