The Truck Fest mentioned earlier is a truck show that is going to be
at several locations around the USA. It's put on by Peterson Publishing,
publishers of Custom & Classic Trucks and several other truck mags.
It's not a classic truck show but a show for just about everyone.

It really belongs on our event guide but the release is too large
for it (1.5 pages).

If a few more members let me know they're interested it will get
posted.

Thought some of you might find this interesting. Looks like
theres a new giant in the automotive industry.

This came from an email from The Car Connection.

Itís a Done Deal! The world now welcomes a New Auto Giant - DaimlerChrysler.
Details of the merger between Chrysler Corp. and Daimler-Benz were announced
this morning in London by Chrysler Chairman Robert J. Eaton and Daimler-Benz
Chairman Juergen E. Schrempp. The transaction, valued at $92 billion, is the
largest industrial merger ever consummated. The new firm, DaimlerChrysler will
rank No. 5 among world auto makers, behind General Motors, Ford, Toyota and
Volkswagen. Catch a brief summary of the news conference, plus quotes from the
two chairmen, later today. Keep returning to our site, as new material will
be posted continuously throughout the day and into the weekend.

Subject: FTE Small - Recall Notice..

Hey everyone.. I was reading CNN.COM this morning. They had a report
about a Ford Recall. 340,000 1997 and 1998 model year Explorer and
Mountaineer (Mercury version of the Explorer). The 1995 Econoline is
also included in the recall. With the Explorer (and Mountaineer), the
recall applies to models with a 4.0 liter SOHC engine.. there is a
possiblity of the fuel lines on the vehicle could be damaged if fuel line
brackets are used as negative cable ground connections (on the battery).
Just a heads up I thought I throw out to ya.. it effects me because I
have that exact engine in my 98 Explorer Sport!

Subject: FTE Small - Transfer Case Leaking AGAIN!

Well.. I had posted about a week ago in regards to my 98 Explorer Sport.
It has 2000 miles on it and I had to bring it into the dealer for a
leaking transer case. Well.. MUCH to my dismay.. I saw tonight that it
is STILL leaking. It's not leaking as bad.. but I don't remember reading
"leaky transfer case" on the sticker when we bought it.. so it's NOT
fixed. I also keep hearing a clunk as I turn corners. I hear it mainly
as I turn corners slowly (such as in parking lots). It's coming from the
rear passenger side wheel well area.. I'm not sure what it is.. but it
doesn't sound like something needing lubrication because I hear it when
it rains. I'm thinking maybe it's the muffler, long pipe, or cadilitic
converter banging on the underside or something.. I mentioned this noise
when they "fixed" the transfer case the first time.. of course they could
not "duplicate" the noise. I'm not sure what the problem with the dealer
is.. I'm quite disappointed that I have to bring a BRAND new EXPLORER in
for service for the same thing again this soon. I can forsee problems
with this.. therfore, I've started a log of these problems.. written down
the service manager's name.. and written down the 1800 customer service
number for Dearborn (as a last result). Wish me luck..

Subject: FTE Small - 1989 ranger super cab 4x4

I have a 1989 ranger supercab 4x4 with the 2.9 liter engine and an
automatic transmission. It has 124,000 on it. Recently it started to
shift from overdrive back to 4th gear and back to overdrive. Over a few
days, the overdrive does not engage anymore at all. There were no weird
sounds or anything abnormal during this time. The cruise control also
stopped working at the same time.
I think this is something electronic that has failed. I believe I have
checked all the fuses and they are fine. Is there a solonoid or some
other componant that may be causing this?

Thanks for any replies.

Try taking it to another dealer and see if they can get it right. My
parents have a 91 aerostar all wheel drive that had a leaking t-case.
Once we took it to another dealership they were able to fix.
