Subject: FTE Small - Springfield Get-Together

Ken Payne's recent post concerning the Atlanta show got me to
thinking: I will be going to a show/swap meet called "Springfield in the
Fall" in Springfield, Ohio, the same weekend, September 11-13. While I
have not made it to the Fall meet before, if it is like the Spring meet,
it is a general show, with an accent on swap meet, rather than a
strictly truck show. It would be a great meeting place for some of us in
the northern reaches who can't make Atlanta this year.
If any of you are interested, let me know, and we'll get together
Saturday the 12th. If we can't all get together at the same time, look
for a "well fed" guy with light brown hair, a reddish beard and a
"Grover" t-shirt in the vicinity of a Tempo and a Kelty tent, or
somewhere in the swap area looking longingly at something he can't
afford!

- -New multimedia buttons. Any Javascript compatible browsers will work with these.
Will still work with non Javascript compatible browsers. Netscape 3+ and IE 3+
should work great. Make sure Javascript is enabled with these browsers if you
want to see the buttons work.

- -Newly enhanced search engine.

- -Search button at the top-right hand corner of most pages.

- -Top banner looks much better than it used to. Now fits to page size regardless
of screen resolution.

Does anyone know of a better braking system offered for the 96 ford
explorer.I have all wheel disc brakes with all wheel (abs) and it sucks
basically my 92 explorer with rear drums braked better .......And this 96
truck i now have has a much higher tow weight..But i don't know how i'm gonna
be able to stop it i have the tow package on my truck and i'm towing a
4,000lbs bass boat and the trailer has its own brakes but the truck still has
major braking problems.....I've just had all brakes inspected and i had all
new pads put on and all rotors resurfaced none of them are warped and all work
...But yet it still doesn't stop!!!!!!
and info or help is greatly appreciated ..........

Hey,

There was some discussion about throttle sticking on a little while ago,
and it happened to me for the second time today.

The first time I merely stomped on the gas hard, and it fixed it up. Today,
it nearly killed me.

I made a turn, and punched it a bit to merge properly with traffic... the
throttle jammed wide open, and vrrroooom! Off I went.

I got out of it with two feet on the brake, and careful timing as I came to
a side street, with the neutral, key off, coast around corner dead move.

It turned out, the stomp didn't work cuz the throttle wire came off the
accelerator pedal. Sheesh. The problem was sticking return springs in the
throttle valve assembly. There are two "wraparound" springs (I don't know
the right name for them), and they had become very crusty. You can find
these springs underneath/behind the snow/ice shield. Go look at yours NOW,
wether you have a car or truck. OIL THEM. keep them from sticking up like
mine did.... And nearly killing me and my girlfriend. Also, get some carb
cleaner and clean out the valve itself.. mine had a TON of crusty deposits
on it, and I think it too contributed to the vavle sticking wide open.

All fixed up, and she runs smooth now. (fingers tightly crossed). Now I
just need a reference of what the top of the gas pedal looks like, so I know
I've hooked up the cables properly. Anyone got one? Haynes (go figure)
doesn't have anything on it.
