For ya Bronco II folks, anyways.

I'm about done welding up my 87 B2. All the "usual" B2
rust spots were welded for structural integrity (with
a roll of pics taken at various steps) and then generous
patches were MIG'ed on for looks and added structural
help. There's also a simple reinforcement that can be done
with about 4-5 MIG-welds (on each) for the hinge areas. I'm
convinced that the degree of rust I had was more metal-
fatigue than just plain lazyness on the previous owner's
part... so it looks like a design flaw... or at the very
least, once some rust is established (and not all of it
can be seen without poking through the paint layer!), the
structural integrity is _very quickly_ compromised and then
metal fatigue greatly accelerates to the point of failure.
(ie. the gate's hinge areas rust out and you get 4"x5"
holes in the corners!)

If you'd rather live in a dream world, ignore me and my
posts ;-)

Will have pics on a web-page to be annouced when I develop
and scan them in. Now to get the sucker primed and painted
:-) Oh, and getting some seats with headrests... something
about 6'2" and whiplash that doesn't appeal to me ;-)

[Why in hell would you buy a truck that you _knew_ needed
so much work? Because I wanted to learn how to weld. And I
_do_ know now how to weld. Hehehehe :-]

I can't wait to see the pictures and learn more about the weld spots. I have
a 87 B2 also that has been well kept, yet the undercarriage is plagued with
rust spots. I'm sure mine will need some welding very soon.

There is a GREAT product for preventing and stopping rust from spreading
called POR15. It's a ceramic-like paint that seals and stenthens rusted
parts like nothing else I have used. I restore cars as a hobby and swear by
the stuff. It's not expensive either. Check it out here:
