Subject: Installing Tow-Hooks

I have a 94 Ranger XLT Supercab 2x4. I have a 5 inch lift and 31's I try to
get off-road as often as possible, and ocassionally end up stuck. So I
want to install tow-hooks front and rear, has anyone on this list done this
same mod, what locations you used for mounting, bolt-on vs. welding,
what brand hook etc.

Subject: Whistling Explorer II

I just recently bought a used '96 Explorer. While driving at highway speeds,
usually in the 2000RPM range, a whistling sound is coming from around the area
under the gas pedal. Above or below that speed range, the sound disappears. We
took it back to the dealer for service and they agreed to fix it. They said
they put on 'frame ears' to ascertain the source of the problem and replaced
the valve body and gasket. They say the noise is gone but that there is some
noise from the intake that is normal. They checked the engine for vacuum leaks
and didn't find any and it still whistles. Does anyone have any idea on what
would cause this and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hi, read your message on fordtrucks-small listservice. What is the
throttle body? What is the MAM? I have a '86 BroncoII(2.9L efi), could I
benefit from changing these on my vehicle? I'ld appreciate any help you
can give. I'm slowly but surely building this truck.
I have a K&N Air filter, 8.8mm plug wires, full synthetic oil, 30x9.50
dunlop RR R/V's. Soon I'll be putting a cat-back system on, but I need
help knowing what else I can do for more torque. Bolt on preferably since
the engine does not use any oil. I do not want to mess-up a good thing.
Also do you know what can be done for making 4Lo lower?
Again ideas and suggestions are welcome! -- Mike

How's everyone? Hope OK. I've got a question about timing the BRONCO
II('86 2.9EFI). Hope someone will help!
I read on a tech board that increasing the BTDC (Like from the
factory 10 degrees to 14 degrees) increases the torque while retarding
the advance increases the top end. To me that seems backwards. What do
you think?
I also read that the computer has a knock retard function. So
adjusting the timing probably makes no difference. What about this?
I'm getting 30x9.50's this week and want to bump up the torque where
I can.
