It has no chrome, the grill, facia and bumpers are grey. It has different wheels (like on the Explorers for the '97 model). It is a package that came with skid plates, the lower facia with fog lamps and a handling package. All the '97 STX trucks had purple striping and an STX sticker on the tailgate. Tape was deleted (thank goodness) on my truck. I peeled the purple STX off myself (purple & red make me ill when seen together). I believe you could option an XLT with just about everything the STX had, except for the Explorer wheels. Not too many of us were willing to plunk down an extra few bucks to get all the goodies as a package. I still don't see many other STX trucks in my neighborhood. Same car, engine. I was planning to go with a free-flow "cherry Bomb" muffler or something like it (free flow). I was also going to go with Borla Stainless steel exhaust system, but they don't make the system for the Bronco II (the 2.9 for that matter) but they do sell plain pipe and elbows in different lengths and sizes. I would get something that will last a long time, but the local parts store turbo muffler should be fine. That's my two cents for exhaust. Spark Plugs, I used to just use autolite plugs, but lately, I have been extreemly happy with the Champion Copper plugs. They're cheap, availiable, and they work really well. I haven't had any problems with them. The autolite's didn't seem to make much of a difference over the old plugs that needed to be replaced, they also seemed to wear out much quicker than the Champions. I believe I have a bit less hesitation with older champions than older autolites, as well as a little better acceleration. Once again, my $.02 on plugs. BTW, how well did the K&N help the 2.9? I was planning on getting one, but never got around to it. I haven't found anyone with one on a BII, so I didn't have any info anyway.
