Initially I was thrilled with the truck, then I noticed some production flaws like paint problems on the hood and driver's door, a high pitched squeal in the engine, unfinished upholstery in the cab, and a glove box that leaks water! The dealer assured me that all of the issues are covered by warranty and would be repaired at no cost to me, but they have been less than aggressive about getting the repairs done. The truck has already been in their shop for a total of seven days and this morning I dropped it off for four more. I am almost ready to start looking into Lemon Laws. Has anyone else had problems with their '97 tucks? Have the dealerships been just as lax in responding? Any advice on what I should do? At what time do I just demand a different truck? Thanks for any help you can offer! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 00:23:33 EST From: FastRngXLT Subject: Re: Factory Defects in my '97 Ranger XLT In a message dated 1/28/98 10:37:24 PM Eastern Standard Time, goodmoore November. I would wait the time that its currently in the shop and if its not fixed to your liking I would contact Fords Dispute Settlement Board. They are very prompt about getting your truck fixed/new one without using the lemon law. I used them when I was having a problem with my 96' when I first bought it. They got the job done for me fast. The dealer was quick to sell you the truck, but when it comes to giving after sale service, they couldn't care LESS. Brian ------------------------------ ....
