Hey all, I was just wondering what you all think of the '98 Rangers looks and new suspension. I have one and personally love the new look, but I painted the grille to match the truck and that GREATLY improved the looks. The suspension seems stiffer than my '95, so I think it was an overall great change. Well, for one thing: AOL, the worst (and possibly most unreliable) Internet provider, has email problems (again). We've had over 200 bounces today. I'm sure that this accounts for a lot of the inactivity. At 07:20 PM 1/21/98 -0500, you wrote: >Is activity really slow on this list or is there a server problem??? >Should I be seeing my own posts?? I just installed my CB in my '97 Ranger. It works good but I'm getting a lot of RF noise from certian componants on the truck. Mostly I feel that the fuel pump is giving out RF noise the most, but the wipers, window washer motor and 4x4 system are also giving off some RF noise. I can live with all the noise but the fuel pump, since it is the only on that runs constantly. I have checked and regrounded the unit (this cleared up other electrical noise I was getting that was not being radiated) I have also tried differant antenna (in various positions) and coax cable. My system is a Midland 77-113 Weaterh Max II radio with a 15' coax to a 3' fiberglass top loaded antenna mounted behind the cab on the drivers side. I there anything I can do? Also, does anyone know how to make this radio tune in the same channel when I power it on?...if I leave it off for any period of time, it reverts back to channel 9 on power up. Can't help you with the RF, except that my friend has same model on a 94 and doesn't get it - 12' coax to 24" through the glass. We have never been able to figure out how to keep the radio locked in to a channel on power off, but if someone does, I'd a prreciate it too. The pump seems to run dry now after every 30 miles or so. The high pressure hose has been replaced but that did nothing. The last time I brought it to the shop they swore they couldn't see the leak. Is it a good bet that the problem is in the steering gear? There is a rebuild kit available - has anyone had any experience with having one rebuilt? There are a couple of TSB's for the power steering on this vehicle - would someone who has access be willing to provide me with a copy? 9367 MAR 93 Steering Leak At the Input Shaft W/XR50 Steering Gear 93265 DEC 93 Air In Power Steering System Regards, Barry Nestor Digital Equipment Corp. I have a 98 and I'm slowly getting used to the styling, although the huge wheel wells make the standard tires look ugly. Repainting the black grille to match the white body would probably help. Gas mileage with the 3.0/ automatic has been awful, 12-19 mpg. To add insult to injury, Ford has pped the price by $1250 since I bought mine, but is unwilling to offer this rebate or some other compensation to me. I was thinking of trading up to a super duty diesel in a couple years, but the way they've treated me I will probably never by another Ford again. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- dianas __ __ ____ ___ ___ ____ dianas / / \ / / / / /__ / \/ /___ /------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 21 Jan 1998, MR JOSH J TENNEY wrote: > Hey all, > > I was just wondering what you all think of the '98 Rangers looks and > new suspension.
