These motors were putting out approx. 250-300 horsepower depending on what package you bought. Try surfing the web for companies and see what you come up with. Or try contacting Ford SVO, maybe they'll have something. What I'm thinkin is that these companies will have bolt on performance upgrades as well as crate motors for both the 2.0 and 2.3. I will agree that a vehicle of this size being powered by a 4-cylinder is not ideal, however the 2.3L engine does have performance potential, and can be obtained with minimal cost compared to an engine swap. I have provided a wav.file on one of my pages showing the potential of the 2.3L equipped Ranger. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.sky.net/~wkurtz/sound.html Warren Kurtz Ford Ranger Fans On-Line Kurtz Kustomz Motorsports http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.sky.net/~wkurtz ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Jan 1998 16:10:54 -0500 From: Luke Wells Subject: re:17's on a ranger q's yes, i have a 96 ranger splash with the stock chrome 15's i also want to drop the back level to the front, my original question was what was the biggest tire/wheel combo i could put on me ranger with no modifications, not exceeding 17. Bent I-beams, custom radius arms, 4" coils, Rancho RS9000 shocks. No drop down brackets are needed the way I am doing it. The place that is installing it said that I cna run 32s on it with this lift and I didnt believe em so they showed me a truck withe the lift that had just run Baja with 32s. I couldnt believe it. I checked and it didnt rub anywhere. I chose to go with 31s anyway. Most 4" lifts only allow for 30s. If anyone has any comments on this or knows anything that i should ( :-) ) let me know.
