Subject: Tonneau or shell for Ranger?

I'm debating whether to buy a tonneau cover for my 90 Ex-cab
Ranger or a camper shell... present gas MPG runs 18-22 with
2.9 V6. What gas mileage improvement would either make, and
since they are so relatively inexpensive, what drawbacks if
any to the soft tonneau covers? Hard Tonneaus seem to run
about 500$ and shells 700-900..

Anybody want a free Gas tank and Skid plate assembley for and 83-92 Bronco II. I yanked it out to replace it with a race style fuel cell.
