Subject: '86 Ranger 4WD: $500

Hi all,

I test-drove a Ranger yesterday that a neighbor's friend owns. It needs too
much work for my purposes (I needed something that runs NOW), but for those
with an itch for a 302, or own a Ranger and want some parts, it's might be
good deal.

First the disclaimer: This truck is NOT freeway safe as-is, and it's sold
as-is. I have no link to the owner--I just agreed to pass the info along to
you all, in case somebody wanted a parts- or project-truck.

Here are the stats:

'86 (I believe; it's carbureted) Ranger longbed. New white paintjob (some
small nicks and scratches), trailer hitch, lockable "truck box" in the bed and
(I believe) a bedliner. Bed is 6 or 8 feet; I don't remember. Dual fuel
tanks, lift kit, giant wheels and tires (decent tread). Four-wheel drive,
2.8L engine and 5-speed manual.

The downside:

Engine runs rough and sometimes cuts out at mid-throttle. One broken rear
shock (trussed up with duct tape I later found out.) Ashtray full of
cigarettes. Interior not in great shape; not in terrible shape. Speedometer
off because of the giant wheels. Slop in the tranny or drivetrain.

Anyway, I figured if someone wanted a project truck, a 302 recipient, to add a
second tank to their Ranger, or just wanted some nice wheels, tires, lift
equipment, bedliner, hitch and truckbox, it's not a bad deal for $500. The
guy's name is Earl, and his number is (909) 593-5693. He's located in La
Verne, around Pomona (Southern California.) Best time to call is after 5:00.

Regards,

Tim Clevenger
