Been thinking about it but haven't tried it yet. Glad you mentioned
that tho. I think I mostly have some air I haven't been able to get
out yet but I keep running out of time or helpers before I can get it
all done the way I want so I'll try again next time I open something
up or modify a line but I think I'm going to try some of these
pressure suggestions next time.

I found a parts shop here that will sell me a puller-type apparatus for
$29.95 or rent it to me for $5.00. Another shop didn't have anything, but
the guy suggested a grease/hydraulic method using the alingment tool that
comes in the clutch set. (It's plastic, so I think I'll use something else
that'll take some pressure.) Nobody's heard of the zerk fitting tool,
though it seems like a neat idea. Sounds like that might be a homemade or
custom piece, though.

Anyway, I'll be under Ol' Betsy again this weekend and I'll let you know
how it comes out (pun intended).

I just looked for the pilot bearing remover tool in my tool catalogs. =20

The Snap-On catalog lists the tool. It looks similar to a well bearing =
puller. =20

The MAC catalog lists a similar tool. =20

I couldn't find it in either the Matco or Cornwell tool catologs. That =
doesn't mean that they don't have one also, I am only saying that I =
couldn't find one. =20

Let me know if anyone needs part numbers. The Snap-On tool is a little =
over $50. =20

ignition circuits. Apparently from the ignition key switch to the
controller box. Was this used on all cars/trucks? Which models could I
find this wire in? Where is it located?

The gentlemanly approach would be to help the person to fix his/her
problem. Obviously he/she isn't aware of it or know how to fix it.
I get these from both lists periodically and have found I can read
them by clicking on reply since Pegasus apparently uses two different
engines to read and edit. The editor almost always is able to read
in the files. Have you tried privately mailing the offender(s)? I'm
not especially conversant in these mailer programs myself or I'd
offer to help, wish I could :-(

I know they did but not what years or models. I know the 78 trucks
with dura spark have ballast resistors instead. I just found mine
the other day and the schematics I have indicate that is how the 6 -
8 volt run circuit is powered.

Back in the sixty's and seventy's, shade tree mechanics would find a
iron shaft/rod a tad smaller than the I.D. of the pilot bearing, fill
the hole of the pilot bearing full of grease, hold the shaft/rod at the
opening of the pilot bearing hole and use a hammer to drive the
shaft/rod home in the I.D. of the pilot bearing with some amount of
zeal. This always worked for me. Course, five bucks to rent a tool
nowadays ain't bad.

The original complaint was sent to the list so I thought I'd reply to
the list in case someone might be inclined to help out. I did send
him a personal note with what few suggestions my lack of experience
could muster. They have already asked me to be the next Bat Man :-)

I just looked for the pilot bearing remover tool in my tool catalogs.

The Snap-On catalog lists the tool. It looks similar to a well bearing puller.

The MAC catalog lists a similar tool.

I couldn't find it in either the Matco or Cornwell tool catalogs. That doesn't
mean that they don't have one also, I am only saying that I couldn't find one.

Let me know if anyone needs part numbers. The Snap-On tool is a little over
$50.
