Does it screw onto the end of the drag link? Does the ball/socket thing go up into the pittman arm? I built the one for my 1974 Maverick. I would bet that the truck stuff is more heavy-duty, though. I went to the junkyard and pulled the old parts off a junker and got the rebuild kits at NAPA. I seem to remember 3 kits: one seal kit for the power ram, and two for the power valve: one for the seals, etc. for the actual hydraulic valve, and one for the ball/stud kit. It was all brand new and included the ball/stud and a new clamp to hold it in. These wear out and become rather dangerous after awhile, especially if they aren't kept pumped up with grease. The same may hold true for the truck as for the Maverick. NAPA had the parts, but I had to go down there and force them to look real hard in all those books they have on the counter (the weenies told me on the phone that they couldn't get the stuff). They had to order the stuff from Arizona or something. I got the kits, rebuilt the junkyard parts at my leisure, and changed them out in one day. The whole deal cost me around $60 and one Saturday afternoon. I hope this helps. Sliding doors concept Well this isnt entirely a ford question but.....There has to be somebody out there who knows this. In the 60s Chrysler had a concept called the 70-x. The car had doors had a special hinge called a "parrallelogram hinge". This hinge allowed for the doors to slide forward rather than swing out( Like a Mini-van side door but without the unsightly track). I would like to use this type of hinge on my truck to further customize it and to allow easier access in tight spots such as a parking lot. If you have any info on this type of hinge, how it work or where i could find them, please respond. I thank you for your help. I also have a second question: Is it legal to put a non computerized engine in a late-model truck? Like a 70's 460 in a 95 F-series, for example. If the power unit on that 76 is in need of repair you should seriously consider upgradding to the integral box used from 77-79 or adapting one of the other Saginaw (sp) boxes used by some of the other manufacturers during that time. I have a unit (steering box) out of one of those, I'm not sure which truck it came off of, it could have been a *hevy or a *odge. A previous owner of the truck put it on. I still have to fix that mess once I rebuild the front end. The box is tilted from it's proper angle and ...... back to program. I have seen some of these in other mid 70's Fords with some sucess. Proper mounting is critical and some fab. work might need to be done. Like you said parts are hard to find and as soon as you fix one part or hose the next will break. - -- Don Grossman duckdon 63 Ford F-250 4x4 67' 390, t-98, Spicer 24, Dana 60, Dana 44 Phase 172: rebuild front suspension ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 1997 20:28:19 -0700 From: Don Grossman Subject: Re: Exhaust/Rims????For 68 I have a set of 15x 10's that I want to get rid of and I'll throw in the 33"tires :-) - -- Don Grossman duckdon 63 Ford F-250 4x4 67' 390, t-98, Spicer 24, Dana 60, Dana 44 Phase 172: rebuild front suspension ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 1997 22:35:53 -0700 From: Randy Collins Subject: RE: Transmission Swap - ------ =_NextPart_000_01BCB403.1D95F640 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Last time I checked JC Whitney didn't have a web site.
