My Mercury V8 in my 53 F250 doesn't run well at all. It idles ok, but misses occasionally, when you step on the gas, it runs alittle more rough, when you step all the way down, it doesn't develop any power at all. I rebuilt the carb, checked the compression ( 95 to 98 pounds in all cylinders), checked vacuum (18 inches) checked timing, I had the carb apart several times, even went and got another one but the same thing. It runs the six volt system, It has had a complete tune up. I haven't had it running correctly since I bought it 2 months ago, so I don't know if it ever ran right. Could the valve timing be off at all? any help" Thanks Bill 53 F250 ------------------------------ From: "JOHN A NIOLON" <jniolon Subject: pigeon forge Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2001 20:17:17 -0600 66 days till the Supernationals... woooo hoooooo do I sound excited ??? john ------------------------------ From: DEADOAK Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2001 22:08:17 EST Subject: Re: Mercury V8 In a message dated 3/12/01 8:17:14 PM Eastern Standard Time, billjhs > I have an interesting problem that maybe one of you has come across before. > My > Mercury V8 in my 53 F250 doesn't run well at all Bill, Had the same problem with my 52 M1 until I reset the points. Hope this helps. CW ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2001 07:17:32 -0500 From: The Neighbors <grover Subject: On of Y'all... One of you all, Glenn, I think, asked if Grover is really the color that you see in the Pictorial. Yep, he's faded blue with a bit of rust showing through. In more detail, that truck is the original Sheridan Blue with two layers of Earl Shive's Finest slowly oxidizing and crumblng (not peeling!) off the original paint. I have some more up-to-date pictures of Grover that I've been wanting to put on the pictorial, but I've misplaced the darned things. -- Don Neighbors '54 F250 Named Grover "Any dropped tool or part will automatically fall into the most innaccesible part of the vehicle." grover ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2001 09:23:39 -0500 (EST) From: Winford Rister <fordf100 Subject: 52 tailgate on 54 f100 Here is the picture of my 54 f100 from the rear, with the 52 tailgate. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://members.aol.com/winfordr/auto/54f1003.jpg Winford Rister McKinney, Texas 54F100 - All Ford. 5.0 EFI engine 96 Mustang GT 91 Explorer xlt 4x4 173K and counting 98 Explorer xlt v8 awd. ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup ------------------------------ End of pre61-list Digest V2001 #55 ********************************** -------------------------------------------------------------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts offers books to help you restore your truck: -Ford Truck Parts Locating Guide -1948-1960 Ford truck shop manuals (printed and on CD-ROM) -1948-1960 Owners manuals -How to Restore Metal Auto Trim -1944-1952 Body Parts Catalog -The Complete Ford Flathead V8 Engine Manual -Plus Hundreds of decals! <a href="http://www.motorhaven.com/"> http://www.motorhaven.com/</a> ------------------------------------------------------------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts 1948-1960 Truck Mailing List Send posts to pre61-list....
