I am trying to find out what the following rearend are; 8", 9", number of splines, etc. This tag I know is from a '73 LTD. WDC-CA5 3DC 2.75 9 040A I found another rear axle with this tag WDM-U 8LB 3.70 8 . 7 302A The ratio is obvious. One thing I have read is that the numbers in the middle bottom indicates 8" or 9". Also, a test for 9" is that a deep well socket with ratchet or a socket with extension will not fit on the bottom left or 7 o'clock bolt on the front of the chunk. The carrier is in the way. A wrench is required. Both of these indicate that the axle from the LTD is a 9" with 2.75 ratio, but it has a 5x5" lug nut pattern that no one makes a front disc kit for. So I need another rearend or new axles. earl 55 F250 429 ------------------------------ From: "Debi & Rick Maxted" <drmaxted Subject: 49 F1 Project Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 01:51:43 GMT I have a great winter project for someone interested in a 49 F1 that I am going to sell. After they tested it on their machine, they gave me $20.00 credit on a new battery. I used the credit to purchase a $130.00 1050 ca Optima and #2 AWG battery cables and a #2 AWG starter cable. After installion I tried starting it. Now it cranks like it has an air starter, and starts right up. It always started OK before, but if I flooded it, then I had no recovery. It may take a few cold mornings to check out completely, but I think that my starting problems are over for a while. Anyone out there know of a good frame gas tank conversion for a 50 F1? The fumes are starting to bother me! I'd like to move the filler low on the body like the 53 F100 I believe had.
