Subject: vin again?

Well, we finally found the vin on the 56 last night.  It is on the
passenger side frame rail.  Thanks for the help in locating it but now
we may have a serious problem:  we can only make out about 5 digits but
it is obvious that the number does not match the title.  The title is
for a 56 ford pickup but the vin showing on the title is not in the same
sequence as the vin on the frame.  Any help and insight would be very
appreciated.  I tried to call the local courthouse but they are closed
on Wedenesday and I am going to call them in the morninga nd give them
the rundown.  We may be in deep yogurt I am not sure yet.

Subject: 4.9L & AOD

I have a 4.9L 6-Cylinder engine and AOD transmission
for sale.  They are both still in the 83 F100 they
came in originally.  No problems with engine or
transmission.  I would like to have $100 for each.  I
have decided to build up a 302 block I have and mate
it to a 5-speed manual, or I would be using them in my
project truck.

a car, but he advertises many other parts for 20's thru 60's cars and trucks!

I remember some questions on upgrading 6 volt generators to 12 volts.  This
month in Street Rod Builder Magazine (September 2000) there is an article
detailing the procedure with very good color pictures and good direction,

Question:
Does anyone out there know what the width of  the original flatbed was
on a 48-50 F-2 or F-3. Mine was bought new as a cab & chassis and they
put a 1930's flatbed thats about 8 ft wide on it. Have a chance to pick
up a script bed, but I don't know what year it's from (looks right,
price is right). It is however 10' wide, and may have come off an F-4.

He's right on the 48 car blocks - they were the 59AB engine. Oddly, I'm
running one in my 48 temporarily while I rebuild the right one. Its
pretty much a bolt in except for the fan pulley bracket and the upper
water outlets.
