I would prefer a 351W, but I own a 289 I do not own a 351 and money is an issue right now. My exhaust on my truck was altered when I bought it. The cross-over pipe was removed and dual exhaust was added. Why a new radiator, is the 289 longer, hotter? As you can tell I am fairly new to this. I would rather spend time working on my truck than clicking on buttons looking for the "Vote here" button. Bottom line is, I like the people on this list and the information and support they provide. Although I am strictly a stock kinda guy, covering other subjects pertaining to old Ford trucks is OK. Asking how to mount a chevy engine with all of the problem/solutions that go with it into an old Ford should be allowed. Responses should be off list. This keeps the OT subject matter to a minimum. >> Kreig, Yup...... I think that says it all. Even the purists can get something out of someone modifying. Ya just never know! We all love Ford Trucks and I personally love hearing and reading what everyone is doing to their beasts. I am still waiting for the guy that wants to know how to install a VW air cooled in his effie or an Allison V12. Really, just to see the responses. Sometimes that part is the most fun of all. I'm looking for some ideas, might I add some economical ideas. I picked up a vacuum motor off a 51 car it'd completely different. Anyone ever convert an electric motor off of something else? Wonder if anyone can help. I am building a stock '49 F1 6volt and all. Do I need or have any use for a timing light? Seems they are a thing of the past with the modern vehicles. Lots of 12volts around. I'm told you can use the 12 volt only need the 12 volt for the light. I do not care nor want to dig up a 12v battery everytime I want to check the timing. If I need or can use one do they make a 6volt? Appreciate the help. Hi all. This morning (1-05-00) I jumped into the truck to go run some errands. I hit the switch and all I got was the dreaded buzz of a dead battery. Nuts. So much for the errands. I hooked up my battery charger to try to get enough surface charge to get it started to get me down to the battery store to get a replacement. While I was messing around with it, it took almost an hour to get enough juice into it to get it started, I decided to check my records to see just how long the old battery had been in there. Here's the strange part. As it turned out, I had installed the old battery on 1-05-91, exactly 9 years ago to the day. The old battery was a 72 month Delco. I replaced it with an 84 month one. I think I'll go for 11 or 12 years this time. I didn't intend to ramble so much but I thought the coincidence was worth sharing.
