How many times have I told you to take off your Honda T-shirt before you go
to the Harley Bar. It just creates problems. Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali)
used to run around saying he is the best, but he had to fight "ALL" the time
to prove it. I think we would just rather not fight "ALL" the time on this
list. I love all old cars and trucks, lots of new ones too. I would hate to
pick the best, then I couldn't enjoy the rest. I love all women too, hate to
pick the best, couldn't enjoy the rest.

I have been rebuilding my 1960 223c.i.d straight 6 motor and have run into a
snag. I need to replace the thrust plate and cam gear spacer, that go between
the cam gear and cam. When I ordered the thrustplate I was told the cam gear
spacer would come withit, but it did not. Now I am unable to loacte the
spacer. Where can I find one of these?????? I have been looking everywhere,
and would greatly appreciate any help in locating one. I would even consider
a used one out of a motor someone is parting out...please help me with this
dilemma I know someone out there can.

Thanks

searching for sources in NoCAL: mechanics, shops, visionaries...

I'm looking for a shop or mechanic, in or around the San Francisco Bay area,
who "knows" my 53 f100.

It seems if you don't drive a Porsche or Honda in this city, your'e S.O.L--I
can't even find a mechanic who will look at my truck and had to drive 100
miles to Sacramento for transmission service.

Eventually, I'll know this truck like the back of my hand, but until then and
until I get a garage (street parking for me), I need to know a mechanic who
can tackle a job, finish it right and in a reasonable time, and not rip me
off...(s)he's out there somewhere.

Thanks

Hunter

I have a 1972 model 302 motor, with a front stump oil pan and I would like
to change it to a rear stump. My question is the oil stick in same place are
not ? And if not what would have to be done to get the oil stick in the
right place .

I HAD to reply to this. How many 'Hot Rod' Ch*vy's, M*par's, and others use a
FORD 9 inch rear axle compared to a 'V*tte' rear axle? There is a very good
reason and those that are aware of it know why.
How about a New Year's Resolution.... get on with the FTE material and
directly related matters and send the whiners to another site set up to
listen to juvenile ramblings- my engine is better than yours is.....Shoot in
the FIA Hundai's are kickin rear ends whoda thunk???

I think the only serious complaint not keeping it pure FORD, is when there
becomes too much non FORD content. I dont have any problem with what other
people use for engines or drivelines. But if people start asking questions
related to setting the timing on a chevy or why the turbo 400 wont shift,
then it becomes general automotive troubleshooting. Now other problems like
asking if someone has adapted a 12 bolt rear end to the truck using stock
springs, or can the
original crossmember be adapted to a turbo 350 without too mucch trouble,
would be feasible. There becomes a fine line between good and bad topics
here, and that is probably why the vote.

news.
Meanwhile, I am collecting stories for the 2nd book in the ToughTales

Subject: FTE Pre61 - Re: I'm with Russ

I bought my '54 F100 because it was the most incredibly gorgeous vehicle I
had ever seen - and I've seen a lot. Not to mention the fact that the first
series of F100s are a nearly impossible lot to find. I was happy to find out
that the previous owners had done a lot of the work I was afraid to do
(adding power steering and an automatic).
However, I have always been a Ford enthusiast (though no one else in my
family shares that loyalty) and would eventually like to replace the GM
engine and tranny w/ a 302/C4. Unfortunately, financial restraints don't
allow for that right now so I'm just aiming to get the rest of her 5 coats
of paint off , repainted and driveable. Am I the only one that thinks that
it's a crime to allow such a beautiful piece of machinery sit in the barn
until I can afford to make her "all ford"?
While I'm at it, I'd like to ask a "tech" question: Does anyone know if a
late model Ford truck frame and front axle can me grafted on? If so, what
model and year? I'm trying to avoid the Nova or Camaro stub.
Thanks,
Michelle
