The existing kit is for the Y block cars but they are working on a version for the trucks. The kit provides a new bell housing with frame mounts like the original but will allow you to bolt up a C4 trans to it. I think this is a good way to get a dependable automatic trans and keep your original engine and still use Ford parts. The truck version is expected to be available by the first of the year. If you want more details check out their website at www.flat-o.com . It also lets you use a starter for a 390/360 FE engine or convert your original with an included starter drive. In the late '40s and early '50s, a 3/4 race flathead cam was what the speed shop recommended to those who wanted to drive it on the street, as versus a 'full race' cam. You also built your flathead to a '5/16' for the street, in lieu of a '3/8 x3/8'. That vernacular carried over into the early overhead valved engines because aftermarket cam technology was a new, small world dominated by a few pioneers like Isky, crower and others. There was no 1/2" Comp Cams catalog or other mass marketing tools to educate street racers or wantabees. The link pin is real loose in the pump link (well, the thingie with the three holes, whatever it is called). It has worked its way loose once before, but that is another story. I was thinking of running the piece by a machine shop and seeing if they could attach something to the pin so that it would stay in the hole better (I don't foresee changing holes ever). My question is if anyone else has had this problem and any suggestions on how else to resolve it. The first person who suggestions swapping in another manufacturer's engine gets a trout slap... :) =====jeffh To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
