I just purchased a 223 from a guy in Canada. The truck has a 215 in it. I will check on my 223 to see if these markings match. The 215 and 223 are very similar. The engine mounts are a tell tail sign between the 223 and the 215. On the 215, the mounts are located the side of the engine block. The 223 has one mount attach to the timing cover case. I will let you know if my markings match. It's not as thick & might penetrate better. Years ago I had a 56 Plymouth with the same problem. Put about 2" in each cyl, let sit for a day. Then take a piece of 2x4 & a good size hammer. Hit each piston hard several times. Repeat this for several days if necessary. Try turning eng with long breaker bar while someone hits pistons. (make sure piston's going down, not coming up) It worked for me. I am building a 51 f-1 with the origional flathead. I am installing a t-5 transmission which requires installing a new transmission mount a few inches on down the frame. Does anyone sell a mount for the left frame rail to hold my origional pedals and use a modern master cylinder? What if I cut the crossmember left of center, next to the old transmission mount, and install a gusset for support? What would be the recommended master cylinder to mount to the existing plate? (I realize I would have to change the mounting holes) Any help appreciated, Dennis Moody ===== Zeener96 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Don't give up hope. I to had the same problem. My son showed no interest in cars. But the good news is that has changed. It was either due to his wife, who is a big Boss Mustang lover, or a little statement I made about giving my truck to my daughter when(if?) I go to the F100 club in the sky. You se my daughter was born with the Hot Rod gene(even if she does like Ch*vy's) and has had a couple of good rides, the last a 69 SS396 camaro. Sooo in a interesting discussion with both kids one day i mentioned that my daughter should get my 55 when I die. That suddenlly changed the interest my son had in my truck. Now he wants it. So don't give up hope. Be patient, buy him test drive for the play station and emphasize driving the muscle cars. Interview girlfriends to make sure they are car oriented. He'll come around. Used to be that a man and a truck represented a work team. Ford history represents working class people (Henry and the Model T). Therefore it naturally follows that Ford and Trucks go together. I can still hear the sound of that 223 engine in the first vehicle I drove (besides a farm tractor), a 53 F100! I believe so strongly in the work ethic that I required that my son BUY his own first vehicle. Further, I was determined that he would learn enough mechanics to avoid being at the mercy of unethical garages like many people are. It worked. During his 9 + years as a Navy pilot, his home was the automotive repair center for all his friends. Now I get advice from him. He has a Ford F150, has restored a 65 Mustang, and has helped extensively with the rebuilding of my 54 F100. Good Luck! I myself wasnt interested in cars a few years ago. My father has always had a street rod parked in the garage for as long as I can remember. I think what got me interested was my dad taking me to all the cars shows after his first restoration and showing me all the different thing you can do to a car. Right now he has a 48 F-1 with a 289 as well as a business making 32 roadster bodies. Well to make a long story short, I now own a 1966 F-250 all original with a running 352 that I am restoring.
