I was told this was not the original engine in the truck, original 6 cyl. The casting number on the left side of block is EDB 6015 with 8A F on the right side of the block. I think this is a 292 from 1958 or 59. The heads and intake all have the 8A F code and the 2 bbl intake casting number is B9EA-9425-B and has 4 studs to mount the carb. Heads have 6090 casting number under the rocker arm shaft. Can someone with a parts book decode these numbers and tell me what I actually have? I want to rebuild the engine and get the OD working then drop it in my 55 F100. Perry" Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - Y Block ID Roger, I have book "Ford Y-Block", how to repair and rebuild.... but it seems to be for cars only. Maybe #'s are diff. for trucks. It is a very good book and has part #s and breakdowns, etc. Available from Motorbooks International. Best I could decipher from it was: E or F code heads had single valve spring retainers All head codes in book start with an E ei: EBU Closest eng code to what you gave is: EDB-D or E for 312 eng. of 57' I know this isn't much help, but you may have to tear-down and measure cylinders, stroke, etc. to compare to specs. P.S. Closest intake # I have is B9A-9424-B for 57-59 292 2bbl. Welcome to the confusing world of Ford. It's way low with the torsion bars cranked down. I want to raise it, but it looks like the upper control arm is almost at the outboard end of the camber adjustment holes. Would I be compromising the control arms in any way if I elongated the holes so I could raise the truck and still keep the correct camber? Any other suggestions? control arm interchange? == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ End of pre61-list-digest V3 #347 ******************************** +- Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1948 - 1960 Trucks and vans --------------+....
