Need to know the original colors for the V8 engine, air cleaner, oil filter,
etc. on a 1952 F1 - have degreased and cleaned entire engine compartment up
and am ready to do some painting! Also, can some of you recommend type(s)
of paint to use?
Thanks - Bruno

The holes look too perfect to have been drilled but I guess they could have
been added later. I have a 48 also but haven't looked to see if it has the
holes, I don't remember it having them but I'll have to look to be sure.
Hope you're having fun in Papua New Guinea! Have you seen any good looking
old Fords or Mercury's? Thanks for your help.

The engine was Ford blue and everything else was black I believe?? There are
several places advertised in Hemmings to order the correct color and the heat
resistant paint. You can even get it from a Ford dealer I've been told. I'm
ready to order the engine paint for my 48 but haven't actually done it yet.

One option I've seen is the stake bed hole. You can make a little aluminum
bracket and run the wire from there into the cab. Had one myself for
awhile. I've since covered my stake holes and I'm going to use a flush
automatic antenna in the tonneau cover.

Over the weekend I found a guy that has two stock power steering units for a
56 F100. I didn't know they existed. Were these possibly after market
options? He is willing to sell. if anybody is interested let me know and
I'll get the info this weekend.

I have sat back and watched the decision about the two holes in the dash and
if they had to do with vacuum, or electric wipers. I have not weighed in
because I did not have a 51, or 52, and also because I simply did not know.
However I did look in the Ford parts manual to see what it had to say. Guess
what guys? The book list both vacuum, and electric wipers for 1951 and 1952
Ford trucks. It was a Ford option. The part number for the electric wiper
motor is A8TZ17508-A. I looked at the illustrated parts breakdown, trying to
gain some insight into the two holes in the dash. I am sorry to report that I
can't give you any info regarding them. I can say with certainty that
electric wipers definitely an option for the 51 to 52 trucks

Subject: FTE Pre61 - Y-Block Ram-Horn Exhaust dilemma

I am starting to get things lined up to start this spring on the 56 M100 =
project. My plan was to use a 292 Y-block, C4 with adaptor, 3-duce intake =
with Mercury valve covers with a Volarie suspension. The only thing is =
there isn't enough clearance to use the ram-horns, which will come down =
right on top of the Volarie. My options as I see it are using the =
original and I might add ugly cross-over pipe, or headers. One other =
option if someone has done this combination please let me know is a =
Mustang II with the ram-horns is there enough clearance? is the Mustang II =
strong enough for the heavy Y-block? Or maybe I could use some aftermarket=
leaf springs and disc brake conversion. One other thing are there any =
Canadian members of this list out there than I haven't yet chatted with? =
(Charger I haven't talked with you for a long while) I am looking for =
anything related to 1956 Mercury trucks. emblems, hubcaps, and literature, =
brochures, manuals, and magazine adds. Or a 56 M100 panel would be great =
for the next project. I do have parts and literature for other years of =
Mercury trucks if anyone is interested in tradeing. And I would like to =
invite everyone to the chat room on Sunday evenings lately it's just been =
a few of us in there.
