Subject: FTE Pre61 - heaters

Looking for advice and tips on heater removal. I need to take out my
heater to put in an under dash pad. I want to paint it and perhaps add
new seals, etc. Any thing I should do or not do? Any tips for painting.
Should I avoid painting the heater core fins? I have a standard recirc.
heater, not the Magic Aire kind.
Thanks, Abe '54 F-100

We put the latch in the door and the post on the cab because the post
would have interfered with the door frame if on the door. We mounted
the solonoids in the door with a link to the latch release. I think I
have pics of it if you want them.

They also had the regular top loader in cast iron like the originals with
exception to having an overdrive in fourth. I have one in a vehicle.

. When the late 70's fuel crunch sent Ford looking for a quick OD
trans they resurrected the Top Loader, but with a couple of twists. A
new set of gears made 4th an OD, and an aluminum case w/ an integral
shifter mounted next to the tailshaft made for slicker shifts. Some
people refer to them as "Mexican Overdrives" because they were assembled
in Mexico. In the mid 80's they improved the tranny with bigger bearings
and moved the shifter into the top cover. These are supposedly the
toughest of the bunch, and the shifter location might be better suited to
your application.

I am looking for a hood emblem (mine fell off & was lost) for a '48 F-1. It
is a stainless piece with FORD embossed on it, and fits on the passenger side
between the chrome strips. Joel Day

Ford in a Ford; I believe anyone with a C*y in a Ford should be in a
special class at the shows.
Nothing wrong with it, but just a different class.
Some day, when they can get a man to live with a babboon's heart, he
might still be a man, or, then again, he might be part babboon.
Any company who designs a motor from scratch with the distributor on the
wrong end.....I'm surprised they didn't figure a way to get the water
pump back there too, to make it a total disaster!

Can any one tell me what color a 1960 223 6 cyl motor should be? It was ford
red when I bought it with a blue tranny, and I am rebuilding and I found
traces of blue paint under the red. Which one is right the blue or red?

Thanks in advance,

Subject: FTE Pre61 - ADMIN: the SPAM

To all Ford Truck Enthusiasts list members:

A spammer subscribed to all our mailing lists and
managed to post his garbage to two of the lists
before I managed to put a halt to it. As you may
know, we take measures to fight spam and protect
email addresses, including, but not limited to, use
of a robots.txt exclusion file, POP before sendmail
confirmation, subscription confirmation for the
discussion groups and blocking web access to known
email harvesting sites.

However, even with all these measures, there is
nothing that can be done against a spammer who
subscribes, confirms the subscription and then
spam. The spammer has been blocked from the lists
so they cannot post again. We have, however, not
unsubscribed them. This means they cannot unsubsribe
and will have to find a way to deal with the 100s
of emails the live lists sends out.

Please do not make the problem worse by posting about
it here, the issue has been resolved. I strongly
urge you to send email the spammers TRUE email address
at ldchen webresearch.8m.com and express your thoughts.

We are preparing a bill for them for the time spent
to block their email address and to clean up their
spam from the lists. We've notified them that we
will seek a small claims case if we are not paid since
the FAQ clearly states that anyone who spams the lists
will be billed for the cleanup.

Amen!! Grow up. This isn't college football or some other serious thing.
They are just trucks. Maybe I feel that way because I have 9 of them & I'm
not a purist.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I also came on a deal that gould not be pst up.....and put a 97 LT1 and 400R15
Tranny in my 49F1. You have to change the motor mounts and tranny support, drive
shaft will need mods also. Getting some good pro advice will help and save much
sweat and tears.

I am an incesant list member/lurker and have followed the thread on the F-4 tires. I am actually in the process of trying to change to some 17" tubeless rims I found with the 5-bolt pattern. Has anyone ever changed the gear ratio on an F-5 or F-6 to accomodtae a smaller circumference tire such as a 17"?
