I need to get the rusted driver side floor replaced on my '56, but don't
have the welding skill. Can anyone reccommend a good body shop ion the
Oakland, California area? Or is anyone out there that has done it
interested in getting together with me on this? I can bring the patch
panel and some beer! Steve

My '58 has the described locking mechanism. So I would assume that your 57
would have the same setup.

Andy,
If you use the earlier flathead dual intake on the later flathead, you
won't have correct crankcase ventilation and that will allow water and
acid to build up in your oil. If you are a member of, or can join, the
Early Ford V8 Club, I just wrote a column that is coming out in Sept/Oct
issue about this topic. I think their site is www.earlyfordv8.org

I have a 4 bbl manifold that has 2 tubes coming out of the rear that are
positioned across from each other. Could anyone tell me what these tubes are
for and is there any significant value associated with this manifold?
On another note. I have found a 65 F-100 that is smashed up on the front
and was wondering if a 9" rear was standard in this year. I am considering
putting this and the bed onto my '55.

Hi Folks. I am looking for repair patch panels for the front fenders of my
'52 F-3. I know they are different from the F-1's. I need the lower rear
patches, the lower front extensions and the patch for the front fender area
that the lower extension bolts up to.
I have tried a few suppliers like Sac Vintage, but they only carry stuff
for the F-1. Any body know where I can find these pieces for my F-3?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Dan

newer vehicles usually use a paper or plastic covered rod clamped to the
springs (all the covering does is reduce squeaks)

hog rings or nylon wire ties can be used to hold a wire in place or you can
tye them with a nylon cord

this will firm up the seat & reduce the chances of a single spring
breaking - using a resilient urethane foam you can still look stock but have
much greater comfort

Subject: FTE Pre61 - Seat Question: Tying Springs Together

I wrote a couple weeks ago about recovering my seat. Somebody mentioned
that while I was at it I should tie the springs together to spread the
weight out better. Could I get some details on this please? What is
durable enough to tie them together and last? Would hog rings be good?

Thanks
