As far as non-stockers, yeah, there are quite a few here. Mine is a small-window with a '65 390, C-6 and 9" rear. The body is mostly stock, with stock mirrors removed/filled, '53 grill, tail gate chains removed, gate upper corners filled, custom Ford-script/blue dot taillights and Harley turn signals. Paint is flat black with red scallops, chrome smoothie rims. I drive my truck ALL the time. If anyone sees me around Santa Rosa CA, give me a shout. I like to hear about/see other F-100's. Let's hear what others have done with their trucks.... >From: KAllen4620 >Reply-To: pre61-list >To: pre61-list >Subject: FTE Pre61 - North South Run Santa Maria >Date: Thu, 19 Aug 1999 00:50:39 EDT > >Is anybody going to attened the North South Run in Santa Maria CA at the >end >of August? I have a 55 F100 that is currently bone stock. I have a rolling chassis set up that has a Volare front clip and a Ford 9" rear end. I have a fuel injected 351W and a C6 waiting in my garage to go in the chassis. I brought the car back to the shop and the mechanic Is it hard to start after running and then shutting off for a couple of minutes? I had that problem and found similar pools of fuel on the intake. The fuel would just drain into the intake (you could hear it trickling after engine shut down) and leak out the throttle shaft. It turned out to be a rusty gas tank which would in turn wedge the needle and seat open. Fuel could then "runneth over" to wherever it chose. I replaced floats, checked level, installed fuel pressure regulator, rebuilt the carb, yadda yadda yadda before I found the problem. I have a lot of experience to share with anyone who is interested. I must admit that I learned most everything the hard way and believe me don't believe all you read in the magazines especially the time it takes to accomplish the objective. I have made the following modifications to the truck with the idea that I wanted it to look pretty much stock when finished, yet I wanted some items installed to make it fun to drive. These are some of the modifications I made and if you have any questions or comments you can e-mail me at garyfranz 1. installed a 302 cu. in Ford V-8 engine 2. installed a Ford C-4 automatic transmission 3. installed power brakes, maintained the drum brake set up front and rear, all new 4. Installed Toyoda power steering 5. Installed Rod Doors interior panels covered with tweed fabric 6. Changed from 6 to 12 Volt wiring, changing all motors to 12 volt 7. Installed front flip hood 8. Installed auxillary transmission cooler. 9. Restored original fuel tank 10 Installed all new door and window hardware and glass 11. Replaced all fasteners with stainless steel If you are thinking about starting a restoration project or all ready doing so let me know if I can help. Gary J.
