Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to get my hands on an original radio for my
'49. The guy ran it before I bought it and it works great. The question I
have for you guy is, how do you preset the radio stations? I have tried
pulling them out but this doesn't seem the way to do it. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.

Bob - No idea how to set the presets, but do you know if there's another of
these around? I have a friend that's looking; also he is interested in a
replacement steering wheel if you know where we could find one...

Thanks!

Bob, I asked the same question a while back, and nobody answered then. But like
the old cow that sucked herself, it all came back to me (Sorry). Turn each knob
CCW to loosen and then push in at the desired station.

Hey guys/gals, I will not take up much post here but when I was in Pigeon
Forge I seen several 56's running other than ford engines. I would like to
converse with someone about the motor mount set up. I know that they were
moved forward abit to keep from recessing the firewall. The ones that I seen
looked to be custom made.
I really would like some additional info please. For the sake of not
ruffling any feathers please e-mail me personally. My e-mail is
Meats56 aol.com.

Thanks and sorry bout the post fellows.

Subject: FTE Pre61 - 50 F-1 Engine block color & Tranny ID?

Again thanks to all for the sheet metal removal help!
This is a rather trivial question but....
When I removed the inner fenders I saw my engine in a way I never have
before. After scrapping about an inch of grease from the block I saw RED
everywhere. Does anyone know if this is the original color of the block? The
original truck color was Vermillion(read basically "red"). Also...
Does anyone know if there is way to properly ID the transmission. I can't
find any numbers on it although it looks, based upon the pictures I've seen,
that it is a 3 speed Heavy Duty(Floor shift). I know this was an available
option for my truck as it came stock with a 3 speed Light Duty.
BTW, the engine is a six cyl, 226 Rouge (a whopping 95HP).
Thanks in advance for all the help and mercy in my resto attempt!

Subject: FTE Pre61 - tranny swap

Hi everyone!

Little question: I want to change my original manual 3 to a AOD, C4, C6.
Will these fit to a 302 small block and do I need a new driveshaft
(length/connection)?

Subject: FTE Pre61 - automatic tranny for Y-block

I have heard that a 3 speed auto tranny off of a 352 or a 390 motor can be =
made to bolt up to a Y-block. Is anyone famuliar with this? Is there a =
aftermarket bellhouseing? Does anyone have any info on doing this? Im =
not having any luck finding a 3-speed overdrive tranny for the 56 M100 so =
im contemplateing this alternative.
Don the 57 C-700 lives also, I had to disconnect the factory wires that =
lead to the distributer and put on a jumper wire from the battery. I was =
revving the motor up and my brother thoght it sounded really good, maybe =
it's those ram-horn manifolds & dual exhaust!=20
I will be attending the "Dash to the Dells truck show in Wisconsin on =
September 17th and 18th. Is anyone from Ford Truck Enthusiast attending =

Subject: FTE Pre61 - FORD 390 pinging past 55mph

Ted, I appreciate the input. I know the timing is right on the mark,
done by me and a retired FORD employee. Also, the engine pings after
driving over 55 mph for a duration of time... say like 5 minutes. Then
when I slow down or come to a stop it still pings for a short period
then quiets down and disappears back to normal engine sound. I fear
lack of good oil flow or perhaps there is heating and warping of lifters
or rods. Could be that when I took off the heads to check out what type
of FE it was I may not have put the new head gaskets on properly and
thus causing an oil deficiency. I'm wondering if putting one of these
products like duralube or Zmax etc may help.

Meat, You have an interesting input. From reading my description above
.... does it still sound familiar to your 302 experience?
