Apparently, nobody there has ever used a wrench. If you do try to count them, the spiral nature of the teeth are guaranteed to confound you. Ford says MOST have 7 or 8. 47Fred == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 08:03:18 -0700 From: Marilyn Boese Subject: FTE Pre61 - 3 carb intake Bill, We have new Offy intakes, the 3 carb is $180. I believe I have his email address: Hmmm,,,here it is...twhite sent you. PS: I believe ours was his first LTD clip, and it worked fine. He has built a lot of cruisers, and is very knowledgeable. Going out of town for the weekend, remind me personally next week if nobody sends you one by then. Just picked up another one at Fords at Carlisle, just to get the long shaft and throttle linkage on the left side (in addition to the accelerator linkage on the right). Don't think the rest of the carb is worth much. Stauffer" Subject: FTE Pre61 - fan shrouds Friends in Ford Trucks, I am looking for a fan shroud for my '54 F-100 (239 Y-block). Mine was apparently lost at the body shop or at the sand blaster or enroute! My favorite F-100 junk yard has a plethora of 6 cyl.(no help). I found some bigger trucks at a farmers junk yard but the shrouds are too big. Here's where I need help. Do the shrouds on a flathead 239 fit a '54 ohv 239? Also, in trying to see what shrouds would fit my radiator I checked my owners manual and shop manual. Under "cooling capacities it says: 239: 22 qts; 256: 22 1/2qts; 279: 26qts; 317:26qts. (Add 1 qt if equipped with heater.) Does this mean that only a shroud from a truck with a 239 would fit? It makes sense that the bigger engines in big trucks would have larger radiators and therefore larger shrouds. Thanks, any help is apreciated. I will be at the Carlisle Truck Nationals Fri. and Sat. If you have a shroud you want to sell I can meet you there! I am leaving early Fri AM and probably won't check my email after Thurs. nite, so call me if you can bring a shroud to Carlisle!
