I am assuming this is for '53-56. Can you scan the picture and post it here for all to see? If not email me and I'll email my address to you. Tom, I am not sure what the stock jack looked like but the tire iron that came with my truck is a flat iron about 15" long with a lug wrench on one end and a "hubcap remover" on the other end. Is this the stock one anyone? Another question: does anyone have the original "reflector flare set" that was an accessory for '53-56? It came with 3 reflectors, flags and flagstaffs. I have one that is in a red metal box. Does anyone else have one like this and is it original? Others were: more cushioning in the seat, 2 tone seat material, passenger side sun visor, cardboard door panel, door arm rests, some interior chrome trim, more exterior chrome, chrome trim on the grill, etc. Here is a question: I know the '55's and '56's had chrome around the drip rail if it was a custom cab. Did the '53 and '54 deluxe cabs have this also? My experience tells me the '53's did not, I am not sure about the '54's. Steering Conversio Mike, The Toyota box is from a mid-eighties Toyota 4x4 truck. They run around $300. You need a adapter ($90.) that bolts to the frame using the original holes. then the box mounts to the adapter. You have to widen the main (large) hole about an eighth of an inch to the front. It allows you to use the original column in the stock position. Except you need an adapter. I used a GM tilt column. The Borgenson (sp?) joint adapter had toyota splines on one end and the GM double D on the other. ($90.) Then you need a new pitman arm with toyota splines on one end and the ford ball on the other (You guessed it about $90.) I'm at the point of plumbing it now so I can't vouch for how well it works. No one I've asked knows which of the two holes in the top of the box is inlet or outlet. You can't tell by looking at them. I've had a half dozen people try. Next stop is a Toyota dealer. But my experience is they don't keep manuals back to the mid-80's? So, there you have it. If I had it to do over, I'm not sure I'd take this route. It's a clean looking installation but expensive. As you can see the $600.+ bucks would put you a good way into a Mustang ll set up. I purchased mine from mid-fifties in Arizona. SoCal offers the same set-up. mike omlin wrote: > I have a 56 F-100....could you fill me in on the particulars of the > toyota power steering modification....what yr...truck or car?...do you > use the cross steering set up or what?....thanks in advance > Mike Omlin > somewhere near Seattle > > ______________________________________________________ > > == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Dec 1998 16:47:38 -0700 From: "Joe Michels" Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - Tires Frank-- The 600X16's were the original tires on my truck and it has 58000 miles on it. They work great. In fact, I had a pair of 6v trumpet horns mounted on the hood (outside) of a '61 Renault Dauphine (12V) for the short time I had it (it broke in two at the floorpan due to rust!). Anyway, I also had a pair on my '52 running 12V, then used them on my 56. A total of 23 years, and they never complained, but they moved people out of the way! Now that I think about it I may have cooked a relay.
