'53 and '56 are different. Todd Murthum at Northern Classic Trucks makes them, for $75. each. 810-254-2835. He built the dies too so he would be happy to discuss the differences with you. Mid- fifties cautions to order by year of grill not year of truck. good luck. Fred Hot Rod '56 Abram H. Stauffer wrote: > Fellow Ford Truckers: can anyone clarify this? I caught some flack for the post in private email and publically on another list. I think some people missed the point. I'm no saint, but in public I try to be aware that others are listening. Like my wife is fond of saying "little ears have big mouths." We never know who's on the list so I think we ought to represent ourselves as best as possible. When I rebuilt the 4 speed on my 57 F-350, I was able to get the gasket set(paper), snap rings, and thrust washer from a Ford dealer in town. It was one of the older dealers and had the necessary parts microfiches. Some of the newer dealerships did not have the old microfiches, but sent me in the right direction. Good luck. Campbell Ford Ottawa Ontario (613) 725-3647 Hope this helps. I've seen it advertised in Sacramento Ford etc. Looks great, just wondering how it looks on a completed truck and how difficult was it to install? How can I find out what size this engine is? Are there casting numbers that I can decode? Please point me toward any web sites or books that might help. (My truck should have a 223. I think that the engine is a 223 but I am not sure) Jason Piccola 55' Ford == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 23:59:10 EST From: PWPTRUCK1 Subject: FTE Pre61 - 52 tranny numbers I have a '52 F-3 with a 239 flatty and a 4-speed floor shift transmission.
