I agree 100% Swapping your original Dana or Ford 9" for one of these is
a definite step backwards.
Warning:The C-clip retainer design is an accident waiting to happen. I
once lost an axle out the side of a car due to a failed C-Clip. Any of
you running these axles in any vehicle keep an eye on the axle end play.

Hi all,

I have a 57 F100 with a 272 engine. It came with a standard 3 on the =
column. I located a stock 57 overdrive tranny and had it rebuilt, just =
when I was ready to install it I found a 57 truck I bought for parts =
with a Fordomatic. Now my question is which to install or is this a =
good question. Is there a clear cut answer. I know nothing about the =
Fordomatic other then I hear a lot of talk on her about them. Which =
would give me the highest gear ratio and top end. I would like to hear =
some comments please...

ton will interchange with the 1 ton. Also need a place to get parts
that is reliable and not out of line in the price dept. thanks.

Hi Roy,
I have a '52 one ton. I have found that most all the cab parts will
interchange with the F-1 as well as most of my engine parts will too. My F-3
fenders have a larger wheel opening than the F-1 due to the larger wheels on
mine. Your rear axle and tranny is probably different too. All on my chassis
parts have come from Early Ford V-8 Sales. They are in NY. (518)-884-2825. Ask
for Lou. He has been very helpful in locating parts for me. If he doesn't have
it, more than likely he can find it. Other things such as engine parts and cab
parts can be found easily at Sacramento Vintage Ford. They focus mainly on the
F-1, But a lot of F-1 stuff will interchange with the F-3. Get with them at
(916)-489-3444.

Good Luck
Paul

Hmmm, 47fred, that gave me something to think about.. I am pretty creative
at building things. Any advise on the windshield wipers? Any one know of a
place and parts for all the rubber grommets and chrome caps for the wiper
assembly?
