You know I have seen a aftermarket replacement main seal for the flathead; A
one piece. I don't remember if it was a front or rear, (I tend to think it
was a rear) all I know is that it was in a trucking magazine years ago.
Someday I'll find it again. (I have fifteen years of magazines I'd have to
sort through.) Until then, lets ask the list:
Anyone seen a supplier for this part?

Does anyone have any information on salvage yards that sell mid fifties truck
parts?
I live in Kentucky and hear about places out west that sell parts. Please e-

Subject: FTE Pre61 - alternator bracket spacers

We've been noticing this tendency to stack washers here...did you know
that Ford makes a heavy wall split aluminum spacer, called an alternator
mount or bracket spacer. If it doesn't hurt your feelings too bad, you
can buy them at Ford parts counters.

Subject: FTE Pre61 - FH crank seals

Henry,
I think that you will have to drop the pan completely and the crank at
least some to change the rear seal. There is no access from the
belhousing area. There are no 1pc rear seals available, not even lip
type that I know of, just the rope for the rear.
In the front, there are full circle lip seals that we have.
