Overhead valve V/8 complete with carb, linkage etc., still bolted to trans. (3 spd. he thinks) also has the driveshaft and rearend. Was running good when removed from the truck last year, the truck was being re-done as a street rod. Asking $600 for everything. Will take offers, prefers to sell as a package. anyone interested can write me and I'll give you his phone number. Ford changed to flat bed sides nominally in 51, but it really was during the production year. Tailgates changed at the same time. If you have embossed 51 bed sides, the 48 fenders will work. If you have flat sides, they won't. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Feb 1999 17:43:27 EST From: JRFiero Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - My new truck! Some one a couple of days ago mentioned that they had a Cordoba front end that was bolted on. It also seems that other Mo-Par front ends can be fitted fairly easily and that there are kits available to do Mustang II front ends. What I'm looking for is a good picture or two so that I can get some idea whether I'm capable of doing a front end swap and how much work is involved. If some one can e-mail a picture or two or point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Got me wondering where the original location for the spring was. I can't find a good picture. Mind goes from the ball joint where the throttle linkage meets the carb, forward to the generator mounting bracket, parrallel to, and therefore exactly opposite, the linkage rod that goes back to the bellcrank on the firewall. I'm pretty sure I have a later year carb - it has the 'economy valve' or whatever it is sticking off the back of the base (not included in rebuild kits for 51s). That's probably why there's an extra lever which contacts the spring. Anyway - please chime in with any other location points for the spring. I was just going by what my friend said, but even he said he wasn't real sure about it. I guess if my fenders won't work then I'll just have to repair the old ones. Thanks for the info. Gibbon's will send you all the info you need to install the front end and will send you pictures of the installation..
