I've watched "Shadetree Mechanic" and "Hot Rod TV" before, but not the truck one, and it never ceases to amaze me that the "shop" is spotless, and you could cook a meal in the oil pans of the engines they rebuild! Just once I'd like to see them working on a old farm truck and crawl out from under it (No creeper, mind you) with little greasy and/or rusty chunks of crud all over their faces, and one eye blinking madly as they try to dislodge the one that made it past the safety glasses into the eye! And to think I'm tickled with a work bench made from a 4x8 sheet of plywood off to one side of my driveway.... - -- Don Neighbors '54 F250 Named Grover "Any dropped tool or part will automatically fall into the most inaccessible part of the vehicle." grover == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Feb 1999 06:48:13 -0500 From: "Pat Hester" Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - alternator bracket for flathead Gary, I don't have an extra sorry, To be honest I am not sure if mine is even the stock one, it looks too new and I am not sure what the original looks like exactly. I'm another home builder with a 11/2 car garage where I do all my body work, painting, storage, tripping and slipping. I have to lie parallel to the truck just to slide under it, so I'm always in constant envy of their shop. I've always said that if I ever win the lotto, keep the big buck check built cars and just let me have a garage like that. I'll be home and may never come out. Does anyone know of a reputable locksmith who could make a door key for me? Better yet, I'd like to key the door and ignition cylinders the same. *Second, I've got a set of 'Pacific Wonderland' Oregon license plates, one of which is in poor shape. Does anyone know someone who can either repair badly damaged license plates, or make a replacement? I sure appreciate all the advice I've gotten from this group! Thanks for any help you can offer. Only took about 15 minutes, He made me two additional keys and charged $10. This would be quite a small grouping, of course. But if the lists are growing so rapidly, you may need to subdivide them again fairly soon, and might save work eventually by going to smaller groups now. The front end is from 76-77 Volare/Aspen with transverse torsion bars. The center bushings are shot where the bars bolt to the frame. Chrysler (along with several others I have spoken with) indicates the entire torsion bar must be replaced as these bushings are not replaceable. To add to this frustration, Chrysler has obsoleted this item and, even if they did have it, the cost is approximately $400 each. I can not be the only one who has encountered this problem. Does anyone have any ideas, contacts or know of any alternatives to my dilemma. I have considered searching the salvage yards, as my last option, but figure what I find there may not be in much better condition than what I have now.
