The tires have equal air pressure, there's nothing in the bed, and the front of the truck is even. About all I can figure is that one of my new springs is springier than the other one. Is anyone able to shed some light on this? ~Dan >> Dan, Where did you get the new springs? I recently bought spring mounts for my 57 at a local spring shop. He assured me that he could make up new springs or make my originals suit me. I plan on using him if I have the same problem. I believe the 57-60 trucks are the same width as the 53-55 as it was a direct bolt in. The stocker decided to seperate it's axle tubes from their leaf spring mounts at about half-track so I had to upgrade. I don't know what the measurements are off hand but I would not mind measuring for you. Just let me know *specifically* what you want measured and I'll crawl around for ya. So yesterday a couple of buddies and I were drinking beer at 8:00am (fiance' was at her mom's heheh) and we decided to sand down my multicolor rustbucket and primer. We got the cab, front fenders, and hood wetsanded with 320 grit by hand and then spayed it with dark gray primer. I didn't have a compressor so we had to use spray cans but it still looks 100% better than the 7 color/rust job that was on it before. All in all I am pretty satisfied with it and everyone has to start somewhere, right? The bed is next. Is this a weak spring? A bent frame? How do I tell? My parts store's catalogs only go back to '52. They list a Sungate Ivory (M2J-68 or PPG code 80090), but they don't have any color chips so I'm not sure if this is it. Any help is appreciated. Subject: FTE Pre61 - door removal Thanks everyone for all your great help. I am going to try again heating the hinges. I also like the idea of welding the pins to a piece of metal. Removing the bolts didnt work out well. But i will try with an easy out. In case that nothing works, where can I get new hinges? Thanks again, Miguel F-1 951 == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Jun 1999 20:49:03 -0400 From: Paul Subject: FTE Pre61 - Tool Box Thanks for the great responses for a tool box; I now know that I can get someone to make me one(!), or I can make one out of wood!! That one should really hold up well in the weather! I realise wood is a wonderful material, but I thought it was obvious I was referring to a black plastic or a metal standard mass produced tool box. If anyone knows of any, pls advise. They make what they call a hopper. Sounds like what you're looking for. They come in two or three sizes.
