Many flathead owners prefer the "traditional" appearance of 2 or 3 two
BBL carburetors, but this is just for looks more than anything, 3 of
those old 2bbls flow lots more air than a flathead can gulp down, and
the mixture gets funny as well. with a SMALL 4 bbl, about 350CFM, and
vacuum secondary, you have a somewhat strange looking but good running
motor that will probably dust off any pesky 3 duce setup you may
encounter.

I have been a member of ford-truck enthusiast for about two years and Ken has
been kind enough to post pictures of my 52 F1 in the pictorial (before it was
finished),so I feel I can take up the members time and space and inform them
that "The General" took First Place in its category at the "Spectacle of
Wheels" this past Sunday at the Palm Beach, Fl. Fair Grounds.

Ken:
The pictures I gave you at PF are the most current pictures of "The General."
I hope you get time to up date the pictures in the 52 pictorials.

Thanks to the guys that furnished information to me as I was building my
truck.

Could someone inform me as to the exact dimensions of a factory stepside box
57-72 ?

I'm trying to come up with something a little new, and I don't have access to my
original box.

I had a 64 Longbed F100 with the 300 I6 in it. It eventually wore out
and was replaced with a 240, virtually the same motor.

As far as if the motor is good, Y E S! The 300 in stock form has about
145 HP so it won't be outrunning any smallblocks anytime soon but if
you ever need to tow a sherman tank anywhere you'll have plenty of
power. I used mine to make money hauling during high school and was
never able to overload it. I have towed dual axle car trailers, fully
loaded, and concrete/dirt, yard waste, heavy ski boats. EVERYTHING.
The motor was one of the best I have ever owned. It had a granny four
speed and I swear if you could find some way to hook up the hitch, it
could pull the moon from orbit. I think there are also a bunch of
speed parts for it, headers, 4bbl intakes etc. Ford Motorsport also
sells an aluminum racing head for it, no water passages. Clifford
engineering (not sure about the name) sells the headers and intakes. I
always wanted to hot rod one of those motors but never did. I have a
decent 5.0 in my 55 pickup and the 300 felt at least as strong. Not
fast but very very balsy.
