Restoring a 1952 F-1 and thinking about turning the bed wood over as the
underside really looks great - wondering if the left and right hand side
pieces are mirror images of each other?? Can they be turned over and used on
other side as is?? Going to put in new metal strips - who has opinions on SS
vs. steel vs. powder coated??

I have a website, it doesn't have any pictures on it, I haven't had a chance to
upload much lately.

I was more referring to the image on the ford2b pictorial page on FTEs site.
It's the multicolored 58-F100. Most of the information about my truck and plans
for it are there.

I know this is a pre-61 list so I apologize early on. Last night I was at a
local show with my 55 and a lady came by and asked if I knew of anyone who
would be interested in a FREE 1974 short bed ford truck. She is looking to
give it to someone who would appreciate it and finish the work she and her
son started. She has a strong emotional attachment to the truck as it was a
mother-son project until her son died. She found the truck in a field
cleaned it up, put in about 2K and drove it for about two years. The engine
is apart now due to a wonderful mechanic that fixed it for her and then
blew the head gasket. Supposedly the engine is relatively new.

Please don't reply if you just want to get the truck and sell it. This lady
was very sincere in wanting someone who would restore it and keep it.

This truck is in San Leandro CA . If your close buy and are interested let
me know. I would grab it myself, but I would soon be deceased and my wife
would get an all lady jury and be found innocent by reason of justifiable to
many toys homicide.

Again I apologize for bringing a late model in the mailing list.

Dear Peg, Ken, and group:

I received the package about an hour ago with the card, trophy, and check. I
can't begin to thank you and this group of great people for all you have done
for me. I had to wait until I had stopped crying to get a good look at the
picture. I was overwhelmed with emotion by the out pouring hearts of this
wonderful group of people. I wish I could thank each and every one of them
personally, but I know that is impossible. I will make a post to the PF group
list and the pre 61 list folk.

Barney and I are both doing fine. I got the bent wheel and lower control arm
replaced, and the front end realigned. It drives as good or better than it
ever did. I have located a left rear fender and left running board, and
during the course of the summer, I will replace them and get the rest of the
damage repaired. So Barney will be in top form once again in just a few
months. The money you guys collected for me will certainly come in handy.

As they say, there is always next year. I look forward to seeing all of you
this coming year at PF, and hopefully I will see some of you before then. If
things pan out, I may try and attend the Great Plains F-100 Nationals at
Omaha Nebraska.

As I said above, I can't begin to thank this group enough for all the support
you have given me through this ordeal.

1.) The Styleside came with a steel bed not much unlike the later models. I
am wondering what a wood slat might look like as my steel and the 1/8" plate
welded on it is greatly rusted away.


Im looking into buying a Dodge 318 for my 57 F-100 and I was wondering
what
kind of conversions for the engine and transmission would i need to make the
swap. Thanks in advance >>
2.) Why the 318? The Dodge has never been known as a great "hauler" or for
it's reliability. The Windsor small blocks are bullet proof, and the 351
Cleveland is untouchable, never mind the Bosses. I would hate to bolt up a
Chrysler automatic as well.

Truckers,

I just received the "Electric and Vacuum Troubleshooting Guide" for the 90
Lincoln to use with wiring up the EFI on my truck. WOW!! Somebody tell me
again that I can do this. I also might need some help with the electrical
symbols and some of the wire color abbreviations.

Is there a good way to weld boxing plates on my 57 behind the clip. I would
hate to have to take the whole thing off again. But I will. My neighbors will
probably like to help me get this eyesore moving and painted, I'm sure.

You could also flip the bed wood end-for-end (back to front) if it's
symmetrical that way but not side-to-side.

I would tend to go SS, just because I hate rust.

Im looking at a 300 6 cyl. and was curious if anyone knows the stock
horsepower and torque that those particular engines had? Im trying to decide
if it will have enough power for my taste. I know they came in later model
work trucks but I need to know more. If anyone can give me some pro's and
con's to make my decision it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Gang, I just wanted to say that once again, I was deeply
moved by the outpouring of help everyone offered. This
is the second time one of our own was in need and the
FTE members showed that we're more than just mailing
lists. We have strength in numbers.
