Thanks ! Do a web search for "Mustang VIN decoder". There are lots of them on the web. Anyway, your instincts are correct. "6F09T702927" decodes to 1966, built in Dearborn, Michigan, Fastback, 200 CID six cylinder, sequence number 702927. If it was a real Shelby GT350 it would have K instead of T and would have a Shelby name plate as well. To be a regular GT, it would need A or K instead of the T. If the body is still in good shape, and whoever put in the V8 did a proper job of upgrading springs, brakes, suspension and drive train all around, it may still be worth restoring as it should be fun to drive. Please talk to your fellow truckers and find out about auto shows in your area. They don't have to be Ford specific or truck specific. If you have a form or flier, great! You can fax it to me at (770) 806-1955 or mail it to me at PO Box 422, Lilburn GA, 30048. If all you have is a rumor contact me anyway. I've learned of five shows in the last 24 hours, just by calling for info on one show. If you are wondering what this is for, Ken and I would like to meet more of you, and we know that Pigeon Forge is a long way for some of you. So we are going to try to see if we can go to some of these other shows around the country. I appreciate any help you can give. Sincerely, Peggy Payne FTEI ppayne == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 15:35:12 -0500 From: jniolon Subject: FTE Pre61 - frenched headlights and Fairlane tilts short of buying the expensive 150.00 kits can anyone tell me what is involved in frenching headlights. Does it just involve stretching the buckets and using a different trim ring ??? Bought a nice chrome grill at P.F. and it would look nicer with the frenched lenses also Anyone out there with experience installing Fairlane front tilts who would like to answer a rookie's questions ??? tia john == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 20:15:54 EDT From: Meats56 Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - ADMIN: Peggy Peggy the streetrod nationals will be sometime in August in Louisville Kentucky. This show is limited to pre-48 cars/trucks. This is a 3 day event and it drew about 2500 cars/trucks last year. This show will be held in Louisville for the next 13 years. Lots of vendors also attend this show. This door tag came off of a 1966 Mustang 2+2, Raven Black with a Red interior, 200 6cyl and Dagenham 4 speed. Scheduled build date is 6 July, 1966, sold through the Des Moines, Iowa District Office. The 7.5 in. rear gear was a 3.20:1. That is the info for the door. It could be off of another car. The VIN on top of the Driver's Side inner fender, just in front of the shock tower is the one a title office will use for identification. To be a real Shelby, the 5th character would have to be a K for HiPo 289. Also, a genuine Shelby will have a SFM tag riveted over the VIN on top of the inner fender. Of course, there are a lot of things to look for. If the car was originally a 6cyl., the fuel line would come out at the bottom of the driver's side inner fender just behind the shock tower. If originally a V8 car, it would come out just in front of the shock tower. This is something not usually changed unless the builder is going to a lot of trouble to disguise a 6cyl. car as a Shelby. Also, it would have a 9in. rear end and front disc brakes, under rider traction bars, racing seat belts, etc, etc. I doubt that its real, but if it has some or all of the things listed above, it could be. The show was advertised in one of the major magazines, Hot Rod or Rod & Custom, etc. It is called the Biloxi Beach Party and is sponsored by the casinos in the area.
